The life of Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Deputy Devin Freeman, a school resource officer at Sierra Vista Junior High and Canyon High School, will be celebrated Saturday at 3:30 p.m. at Canyon.
Our community rallied to support Deputy Freeman, who died Nov. 28 after a courageous battle with ocular melanoma.
Devin loved being a Canyon High School Cowboy, and no other location would feel right for his service.
A procession of black and white patrol vehicles will depart the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station, lining Citrus Street on Saturday at 2:15 p.m.
The procession will travel from the sheriff’s station to Canyon High School (19300 Nadal St, Santa Clarita, CA 91351). Overflow parking will be on Nadal Street in front of the school.
The service will take place inside the gymnasium at Canyon High School starting promptly at 3:30 p.m.
Anyone choosing to attend the memorial service, including media persons, we ask out of respect for Deputy Freeman’s family that no photography be permitted inside the gymnasium or during the service.
It’s good to be a Cowboy! We thank Canyon High School and the William S. Hart School District for all they are doing to make this event special.
