Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station Crime Prevention Unit

 

Last week, the following Part 1 crimes occurred in Canyon Country East:

(1) Vehicle Burglary, (2) Shop Lift Burglary (2) Grand Theft Auto.

A Vehicle Burglary was reported near the 14000 block of Soledad Canyon Road. In this incident the suspect(s) entered the victims locked van and stole several thousand dollars’ worth of tools. The suspect also attempted to steal the van by tampering with the vehicles ignition system.

There were two shop lifting incidents reported. The first incident occurred at “Vons” on Soledad Canyon Road. In this incident the suspects entered the store concealed alcohol and tried to leave without paying for the concealed items. Both suspects were arrested for the theft. Another incident was reported at the “Kohls” on Golden Valley Road. The suspect in this incident entered the store concealed “Levis” pants and a watch under his shirt and walked out of the store without paying for the items. The loss prevention officer at “Kohls” attempted to detain the suspect but the suspect ran and got into an awaiting car and fled the location.

Two Grand Theft Autos were reported in Zone 8. The first theft occurred on Sandy Drive/Jakes Way. The suspects stole a 1999 Chevrolet Truck. This vehicle was later recovered in Mission area of LAPD. The second vehicle that was stolen occurred near the 27000 block of Silver Oak Lane. The suspect stole the victims 2006 Toyota Tacoma. This vehicle still hasn’t been recovered.

As part of the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station continued outreach efforts aimed at keeping the public informed about crime and crime rates in our community, the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station wants to raise awareness about a number of scams that are becoming more prevalent in the Santa Clarita Valley.

We always encourage residents to immediately report criminal or suspicious activity in their neighborhoods. If you have fallen victim to what you believe is a scam, please call the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station at 661-255-1121.
