A look back at the crimes reported in the Newhall area last week:

On Friday the 26th, a male suspect started a fire inside a restroom in a business in the 24500 block of Lyons Avenue.  The suspect fled the location in a vehicle.  The case is being investigated by LASD Arson Detectives.

On Tuesday the 23rd, between 5:30 a.m. and 6:30 a.m., a garage was burglarized at 24400 block of Valle Del Oro.  A neighbor witnessed the crime and reported it.  Two people have been arrested for a separate crime and investigators are determining if they were also involved in the garage break-in.

Between Monday the 22nd, and Tuesday the 23rd, a burglary occurred in the 21200 block of Ficus Drive.  A door was pried open and electronics were stolen.

In the early morning hours of Wednesday the 24th, a vehicle was burglarized on Valle Del Oro.  A window was smashed and a backpack was stolen.

On Thursday the 25th, between 6:15 a.m. and 4:30 p.m., a catalytic converter was stolen from a vehicle while it was parked in parking lot in the 24300 block of Railroad Avenue.

Two vehicles were reported stolen last week.  On Tuesday the 22nd, a silver 1997 “BMW” was reported stolen from Arcadia Street.  On Saturday the 27th, a 1997 “Chevy” Silverado pickup was reported stolen from a parking lot near Newhall Avenue and Sierra Highway.  Both vehicles are still outstanding.

On Friday the 26th, a lady’s wallet was stolen from her purse while she was shopping in the 24100 block of Lyons Avenue.  Her credit card was later used at different business.

Remember to lock your doors and windows, don’t leave valuables in plain view, be aware of your surroundings, and report suspicious behavior.
