Public Safety and Crime Prevention Information for the Week of 07/27/15 to 08/02/2015.

Here’s a look back at the crimes reported in the Newhall area last week.

Two robberies occurred on Lyons Avenue last week. The robberies occurred on Monday, August 27, 2015 and Wednesday, August 29, 2015 in the 23300 and 24200 block of Lyons Avenue. The suspects described in both robberies were identified as being the same. A 32-year-old male was arrested after the second robbery and detectives are working on identifying the outstanding suspects.

On Friday, July 31, 2015, at 8:52 a.m., a camper trailer was burned on the side of the road at Sierra Highway and Newhall Avenue. The trailer had been stolen from a storage lot in Canyon Country.

Two incidents occurred within an hour of each other on Saturday, August 1, 2015, at approximately 11:00 p.m., between Valle Del Oro and Meadowridge Drive. A male adult, and a female adult, both reported being confronted by a man in his late 20’s with a black handgun. The female victim screamed and fled before the suspect obtained anything, and the male victim was not carrying anything the suspect wanted.

Between Sunday, July 26, 2015, 1:00 p.m., and Monday, July 27, 2015, 6:00 p.m., an apartment was burglarized in the 24400 block of Leonard Tree Lane. Entry was made by prying open a window. The resident is on vacation so it is unknown what was stolen.

On Tuesday, July 28, 2015, between 7:20 a.m. and 4:40 p.m., an apartment was burglarized in the 24400 block of Leonard Tree Lane. Entry was made through a window. A camera and a laptop were stolen.

Between Monday, July 27, 2015 at 5:00 p.m. and Tuesday, July 28, 2015, at 11:00 a.m., an apartment was burglarized in the 21400 block of Plane Tree Lane. Entry was made by shattering a sliding glass door. A laptop, a watch, a video game, and a cellphone were stolen. The suspect did considerable damage to property inside the apartment.

Between Monday, July 20, 2015 at 9:30 a.m., and Tuesday, July 28, 2015 at 12:00 p.m., an apartment in the 24400 block of Leonard Tree Lane was burglarized. Entry was made through a window that was pried open. The location was ransacked, but the victim could not determine if anything was stolen.

On Wednesday, July 29, 2015, between 12:15 a.m. and 7:00 a.m., a business in the 22900 block of Lyons Avenue was burglarized. Entry was made through a shattered door. A cash register containing cash and a laptop were stolen.

Between Sunday, July 26, 2015 at 2:00 p.m., and Monday, July 27, 2015, at 10:00 a.m., a vehicle burglary occurred in the 25800 block of Green Mill Avenue. It was unknown how entry was made and nothing appeared to be missing.

On Thursday, July 30, 2015, at 4:50 a.m., a 2014 Toyota Camry, was stolen from the 22800 block of 15th Street. The vehicle was recovered by Bell Gardens Police on Monday August 3, 2015.

There were three thefts from unlocked vehicles last week. One theft occurred between Tuesday, July 28, 2015, and Wednesday, July 29, 2015, in the 24600 block of Ebeldon Avenue. A computer tablet, a cell phone, and a pair of prescription sunglasses were stolen. Another theft occurred on Tuesday, July 28, 2015, in the 24900 block of Chestnut Street. A wallet with I.D. and a credit card were stolen. The third theft was on the same day, in the 21100 block of Oakriver Lane, where a large set of keys was stolen.

There were three additional arrests in the Newhall area last week. All three were adults and narcotics related.
