Pyramid Lake Closed to Boats Due to Low Water Levels

pyramidlake040714lwEquipment repairs and maintenance on Castaic Lake earlier this month have left Pyramid Lake temporarily closed to boaters due to low water levels.

“Our water level (is) 16-feet low,” said Bobilyn Bowman, an employee at the lake. “We are not accepting boats right now.”

The family of water suppliers, which consists of CLWA and all four local retailers, requested that water users conserve as much as possible and refrain from irrigation April 4 to 11, according to a press release from the CLWA.

Castaic Lake water was temporarily unavailable due to repairs and maintenance on infrastructure, including the state Department of Water Resources’ Castaic Outlet Tower and the Metropolitan Water District of Southern California’s Foothill Feeder, the press release said.

The repairs forced water levels in the reservoir used by the CLWA to drop in an effort to supply water to the Santa Clarita Valley.
