A Canyon Country man entered no contest pleas Tuesday for running over a 53-year-old bicyclist and then fleeing the scene of the crash, the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office announced.
Deputy District Attorney SuSu Scott said 28-year-old Lucas Guidroz pleaded no contest to one count each of gross vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated and hit-and-run driving resulting in death.
Sentencing is scheduled for Nov. 7 in Department I of the Los Angeles County Superior Court, San Fernando Branch. Guidroz is expected to be sentenced to 10 years in state prison as a result of his plea.
On May 25, the defendant crashed his vehicle into Rod T. Bennett as he rode a bicycle on Placerita Canyon Road in Santa Clarita, the prosecutor said. Bennett died as a result of his injuries.
The case was investigated by the California Highway Patrol, Newhall Station.

expected to be sentenced to 10 years???? Out in 5 years. Are you kidding me???? What little value we place on a human life, suffering to family and friends. Somebody was drunk and fled the scene deserves a lot more than 5 years in prison.
Was he an illegal alien….yeah it matters. …drunk in the daytime…very nice, if he is not illegal he is still a loser…
