Roberto Ramos became the first Lancaster player in three years to hit thee home runs in a game as the JetHawks beat the Modesto Nuts 14-9 Sunday.

Lancaster took three of four in the team’s first series of the year, a rematch of last year’s California League Championship.

Ramos did his damage late for Lancaster (3-1), going deep in three-straight at-bats after starting 0-for-2. His home runs in the fifth, sixth and eighth innings came against three different pitchers— Danny Garcia, Kyle Wilcox and Colin Rodgers. All three were two-run homers, giving him six runs batted in.

The last JetHawk to hit three home runs in a game was Derek Fisher, who drove in a California League record 12 runs May 30, 2015 against High Desert.

Colton Welker looked like the star of the show early after a three-run home run in the first inning to put the JetHawks on top. He added a sacrifice fly and an RBI single, giving him five runs batted in on the day. Welker finished 3-for-3 with a walk and four runs scored as well.

Brandon Gold (1-0) became the first Lancaster pitcher this year to go six innings in a winning effort. The righty did not allow a run in five of the six frames he worked. Reid Humphreys got the final four outs of the game, picking up his second save.

Danny Garcia (0-1) took the loss for the Nuts after allowing seven of Lancaster’s 14 runs. Modesto (1-3) scored all nine of their runs in the fifth and eighth innings.

After taking three of four from Modesto, the homestand continues tonight with the JetHawks hosting three against San Jose. Logan Longwith is set to make his first start of the season. First pitch from The Hangar is at 6:35 p.m.

The JetHawks have started the season 3-1 and will open a three-game series against San Jose Monday at the Hangar, first pitch is at 6:35 p.m.
