Snapshot for 09/16/2013 through 09/22/2013
Zone 5-Valencia had fifteen Part-1 Crimes reported during the past week. The criminal incidents included an assault with a deadly weapon, a petty theft from a vehicle and numerous vehicle burglaries.
An assault with a deadly weapon occurred on a parking lot at a baseball field between the hours of 3:00 pm – 3:30pm on a Saturday afternoon. The victim was confronted by the suspect for blocking traffic with his vehicle. A verbal argument occurred. As the victim attempted to get into his vehicle and drive away, the suspect struck the victim’s leg with his vehicle. The suspect was arrested shortly after. The victim was not injured during this incident.
A petty theft from a vehicle occurred on the 25200 block of Rye Canyon Road between the hours 12:00 am – 7:00 am during the weekend. The suspect was able to cut the fuel tank hose and syphoned 25 gallons of gasoline from a work vehicle located on the lot. No suspect(s) have been identified at this time.
There were numerous vehicle burglaries that occurred on various dates and times throughout the Valencia area. Most of the victim’s indicated that their vehicles were locked and secured, however there was no evidence of forced entry to the vehicle. Victim’s vehicles were either parked in front of their residence or at the mall parking lot. Entry was made by smashing the passenger’s side windows with an unknown object or by punching the key hole of the driver’s side door. Items stolen were a backpack, a wallet rain gear, a tool belt, and a purse. The victim’s items were left in plain view, either on the passenger seats or the floor boards of the vehicles.
Do not become a victim! Please do not leave valuables unattended. Do not leave items visible in your vehicles. Secure items in locked trunks or take personal belongings with you when you exit your vehicle. If possible, park in well-lit areas.
