Stevenson Ranch: Zone 3, Public Safety and Crime Prevention Information for the week of 11/23/15 to 11/29/15.
Hello Stevenson Ranch. Here is your weekly report.

A burglary occurred on the 25500 block of Schubert Cir. Deputies responded to the location regarding a home owner detaining a burglary suspect. Upon arrival deputies contacted the victim and suspect. The victim stated she heard her dogs barking, and when she came down to check on them, she found the suspect rummaging through her garage. The suspect admitted to deputies that he had forced entry into the garage with the intent of staling items. He was arrested for burglary.

A vehicle burglary occurred on the 27700 block of The Old Rd. Person(s) unknown smashed the rear window of the victim’s vehicle and stole her back pack containing her wallet, checks, and $400.00 in U.S. currency.

A vehicle burglary occurred on the 25300 block of The Old Rd. Person(s) unknown entered the victim’s vehicle and stole his golf clubs and skateboard. The victim stated his vehicle was locked. There were no signs of forced entry.

A vehicle burglary occurred on the 25300 block The Old Rd. Person(s) unknown entered the victim’s vehicle and stole numerous construction power tools with a total value of over $3,000,00. The victim stated his vehicle was locked. There were no signs of forced entry.

A vandalism and attempt petty theft occurred on the 22100 block of Sierra Hwy. The informant saw a male Hispanic adult and a white female adult attempt to remove copper wires from an electrical box at a vacant building. When the informant contacted the suspects they left the area in a white pick-up truck.

Tip of the Week: Preventing Preventable Crimes

So many crimes are actually preventable when people take the time to secure high value items. Additionally, when thieves notice a pattern of relaxed security in an area, they are sure to return as well as spreading the word to other criminals. Here are some simple tips to protect your property and keep crime out of your area.

1.Never leave high value items, purses, wallets, etc. in unsecured lockers or cubby holes when at the gym or other sporting type places.

2.Never leave high value items, purses, wallets, etc. in your vehicle, whether secured or not, in plain view. If you cannot carry the items with you, secure them in your trunk and out of view. If you have a sunshade for your windshield, consider using it even at night and in parking garages to make it more difficult to see inside your vehicle.

3.Never leave high value items, purses, wallets, etc. in plain view in your home if you are going to be away, even for a short time. Try to leave things like laptop computers, jewelry, purses, etc. in a closet where they cannot be seen from outside the home and consider closing blinds and curtains when leaving your home.
