UPDATE: The suspect has been identified as 31 year old Daniel Bahena from Granada Hills.

After leaping from the moving vehicle, the Infiniti struck a light pole and a parked 1981 Ford Mustang parked.
=====
A suspected car thief in Canyon Country, perhaps inspired by Daylight Savings Time, elected to spring forward from a moving vehicle rather than get caught.
According to the California Highway Patrol officers attempted to pull over a male Hispanic adult speeding northbound on the 14 Freeway around 8:45 a.m. The unidentified man pulled off at Sand Canyon but instead of pulling over, took a right past the Shell gas station. While approaching the Sand Canyon Mobile Park the man leaped from the moving vehicle, leaving it to collide with a parked car. The suspect then ran through the mobile home park and into the wash.
Moments later the suspect was spotted crossing the freeway toward Soledad Canyon Road. CHP asked for assistance from Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station deputies who arrived with several vehicles. The suspect was taken into custody outside La Iglesia Celular del Valle church between Anne Freda Street and Lost Canyon Drive on Soledad Canyon Road.
CHP officials say the suspect’s car contained materials consistent with identity theft. The suspect has not been identified.
