[KHTS] – Those planning to travel out of the country this year will soon be able to visit the United States Postal Service’s Mega Passport Office in Castaic.
The new 2,000 square foot office at the Santa Clarita Processing and Distribution Center on Franklin Parkway will open on Saturday and offer extended hours Tuesday through Saturday.
With additional staffing, the office will offer full range of services, including passport applications, ID photos, photocopy services and expedited processing. Some of these services require an additional fee.
No appointment is required, and walk-in hours are from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., Tuesday through Friday, and 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday.
Last year, the U.S. Department of State issued 13.5 million passports and passport cards.
The Postal Service recommends that new passport applicants start the process several months before a planned trip to allow for processing.

Oh.
Having been thru the one in Valencia, I can see why, there is always a line and a one man operation. It was always an hour or more wait and the last hour one night the postal worker had to come out and close off the line in order to close the office on time.
