California’s community colleges and the Cal State University system have developed new degree programs that will guarantee community college grads admission to state universities as juniors with no wasted units, and with the opportunity to complete two degrees with only 120 units.
Deputy Community College Chancellor Erik Skinner and CSU Vice Chancellor Ephraim P. Smith are scheduled to hold a press conference Wednesday to discuss the details.
According to a joint press release from the two systems: “The new AA-T and AS-T degrees were developed to make it easier for students to transfer between the two higher education systems, and allow them to earn an associate degree and a bachelor’s degree with no wasted units. Under the new program, California community college students who complete an AA-T or AS-T degree will be guaranteed admission to the California State University (CSU) system with junior standing, providing students with the opportunity to complete two degrees with only 120 units. There are currently more than 20 AA-T and AS-T degrees offered, and more degrees are added each term.”
The new program website is ADegreeWithAGuarantee.com.
