Kunak to Lead Castaic Area Town Council

John Kunak

[KHTS] – The Castaic Area Town Council held its annual organizational meeting Wednesday, naming a new president and officers for the 10-person advisory group.

John Kunak, who was elected to represent Region 1 (Hillcrest, Live Oak, Northbluffs and Hasley Hills), was named president, replacing outgoing President Flo Lawrence.

Kunak previously served on the board from 2000 to 2008, and was termed out, and then ran again in 2012.

Sandia Ennis was named vice president at the meeting; Lloyd Carder was named treasurer; and Jessica Chambers was named secretary.

Kunak has served as president before, and was given a new challenge for his first meeting as president in 2015, he said.

Two members of the group sought nominations for chair of the Land Use Committee — Bonnie Nikolai and Jim Idleman, and both had four supporters a piece.

Kunak’s role as president calls for the appointment of chairs, but they must be approved by the rest of the members, creating an unprecedented conundrum for Kunak.

The two members ended up being nominated as co-chairs.

“Both candidates accepted it and they’re going to work together on the committee,” he said, adding the chair is an organizational role, but he or she does not vote on matters.

Wow… what a joke! The blind leading the blinder… a new on the scene nobody as Co-Chair of landuse, a vocal, one sided opponent to ongoing current issues at that. This will be a fun term to watch

Just because I haven’t been involved in politics until recently, doesn’t mean I am a nobody. I invite you to come to our next meeting and see what I’m about. I am a little confused Sally. Are they blind because they cannot be bought? Are you somebody because you could be bought? Are they blind because they will listen to their constituents? Are you full of 20>20 sight because you only listened to your friends at the landfill? It is all so confusing. I guess the “haves” can only see, while the “have nots” must be blind. Many, many, countries have fallen on that belief. So glad that your wonderful wisdom shows through. In order to like people without money, or anyone else for that matter you have to first like yourself. I do not know what horrible thing has happened in your past, but forgive yourself and move on. Taste what it feels like to listen and care for others.

Congratulations to John Kunak. I think he’ll do a great job as President of the CATC. Also, congratulations to Sandia Ennis (our new Vice President), Lloyd Carder (our new Treasurer) and Jessica Chambers (our new Secretary). I think you’ll all do an excellent job for us.
