Sad times, I liked that store.
Woo bring on another vallarta
Hahaha
No
There’s already one right across the street.
Sadness. Been going here for 11 years. They will be missed.
Crap. They were the only ones who knew their own coupon policy
I always go there. :(
No, no more Vallarta!
Only store other than Vallarta within walking distance for a lot of people in the area. Very disappointing. I understand this is a rental cost issue, perhaps. :(
We need more options in Newhall, not less. First tres sierras now this.
It would be nice if they put in a Super King. I go to one in the Valley and it’s always packed. Really good deals. Sadly, though, these type of stores don’t pay their employee’s very much or give them benefits.
Heard from an employee that the store will be vacant for two years. Why?
Must be a lease thing, that happens a lot. It may be that the rent was too high for them to continue the other costs of keeping the store open but they are stuck in the lease another 2 years. Landlords won’t let them out because they are unlikely in this economy and with the current retail environment in Newhall, to get the kind of rent they are charging Kroger.
Seriously :'(

Cant wait to invade the clearance!
Thanks Obamacare!
Doubt Obamacare or labor costs actually had anything to do with it. It’s become common practice to blame these things instead of the actual reason, which in this case is probably a lease issue.
Why??? :(
I saw that yesterday when I shopped there. Sad… They never invested in that store. Since I’ve lived here that one has never been updated while the one at Granary Square was remodeled twice…
I saw that yesterday too Patty Favila Shinozaki that’s where we get our redbox movies.
So sad!
Ralph’s has always been over priced.
This sucks, we go there all this time. People need to stop shopping at Walmart and support the local grocery stores. Quit feeding the corrupt monopoly!
People shop at Walmart because its cheaper, Ralphs is expensive, I leave Walmart with twice the amount of stuff then I would at Ralphs.
Hey to be perfectly fair Ralph’s is less expensive than Vons though, and with wal-mart their quality in food lacks quite a bit so in this matter it’s quality vs. quantity
Um, Kroger/Ralph’s isn’t exactly a small mom and pop, lol. They are the corrupt corporate monopoly of yesteryears.
Well, Ralph’s is owned by Kroger…sooo. Now, if they put in Sprouts or maybe Trader Joes…any parking lot would be an improvement where Trader Joe’s is now.
You would think so but this parking lot is teeny!
YES, a trader joes there would be great!
I’ve never seen this lot completely full except when the Catholic church behind it is having a carnival.
That sucks now i have to drive further if i need to make a quick run to the grocery store. Ugh!
Really!! Lack of business? ?
This surprises me. The store seems fairly busy. This is the closest store for a lot of people. I know with me closest store usually wins regardless of price or selection. Plus that’s where I recycle my cans.
Ralphs is NOT a local grocery store. Vallarta and Valley Produce could be considered “local”.
This is the one that should stay open. They should close the other poorly ran ones.
Awww man! This one is always busy!
Sad
Middle eastern market or Indian Koren markets
Kristy Carlson Pramik
wow!
Can they please put a Trader Joe’s in there!!!
Prices were always to high. Even in the eighties when it first opened.
September 1996 to be exact.
I’m sure it was open before that
I worked there for the grand opening.
Trader Joe’s would be nice. This Ralph’s was so convenient after I pick up my son from HART. I come here often. Was so convenient. It’s the closest to Circle J Ranch.
:(
No surprise. They used to hire the local kids in the neighborhood as baggers and they had checkers who were like family to all of us and slowly but surely they moved them all around and put in new people. It lost its hometown feel.
No way Carrie Gil Slakoff Gloria Slakoff Hernandez Danielle Slakoff
Dude! This was my like childhood grocery store but I went in there awhile ago
See Laurie Johnson Lessing, I told you!!!
Chris Hovermale
How sad
Darbee Rayner Prieto
Will this effect the recycling center outside? Where would we redeem our turn in receipts?
First alberstons now this
Funny how everyone who said vallarta would only cause major problems for the city and those who apposed a vallarta opening up here are now loyal vallarta supermarket shoppers oh and those of who stopped going to vons Ralphs and Albertsons!
Melanie Waggoner weren’t we just talking about this Ralph’s
Most of the people that live in that area shop at Vallarta. Vons down the street is next to close. That part of town has been looking more like canyon country.
And is there something wrong with CC??
Ahhh ooh Bri Waterman-Realtor
That store is a joke!!!! I worked at that Ralph’s for 6 years……….bad memories !!!!! I’m glad it’s closing and whatever goes in it’s place will be better than this store!!!!!!
Ralph’s is local its in the Santa Clarita valley
There’s like 7 Ralph’s in SCV !!! Lyons and orchard village is the worst!!!!
ooh, Alison Thompson, why so bitter?
Not bitter, just truthful !!!!! Kristy Carlson Pramik
What?!? It’s the only grocery store that’s walkable distance to me
Vallfarta smells
Sad
Awww Man! That is such a convenient Store. Very sad :(
I don’t shop at Ralph’s, ever
I like Vallarta
I work there, I’m a bagger. great store, there like family to me, all the customers are like family, will miss all the coworkers, and all of you guys! If any of you could possibly help me out, we’re all getting transfered and depending on the customer comments on the customer service survey will determine if we get a nice store or a lower end store. If any of you have old receipts or new one that have a survey on it it would be much appreciated if you could do it and put my name down and positive comments on my customer service! God bless you all, you guys as customers have always made my days at work worth it and so much better. We’re truly sorry this all had to happen
Spoken like a champ!
Oh thank you sr
Deena Jepsen Keith Jepsen
No vallarta is to Spence
Open a Winco there. Its employee owned. Yes you bag your own groceries but the stores are always clean and don’t look anything like the other bag your own places. Love how they also sell some stuff in bulk like Sprouts and Whole Foods. Plus it’s very budget friendly.
noooou!!!!
Please open a Fresh & Easy!!!!!
What about the Wells Fargo? :/
Wells Fargo will be there till the end of the year -ralphs 297 current employee
Maybe should have lowered their prices!!!
That’s going to be rough on the residents of the 2 senior apartment complexes nearby.
Vons, Ralphs and Albertsons are rip offs!!!!
Brianna Mercedes Ortega
So sad!
Damn it, Bill!!!!
Cindy Nordstrom Dan Nordstrom More things are closing!
We need a WINCO here in Santa Clarita
No please
That’s where I buy my dry ice for Halloween once a year.
So now Greg will be forced to make his own dry ice in the evil laboratory…
I’m so sad about this, it’s my families go to store for everything. I know it like the back of my hand. The staff is wonderful! It may not be the “prettiest” market but so what, that doesn’t matter. The prices and deals and quality are always great. I’m sorry for everyone that must leave their job for reasons beyond control. Thank you for the many years of great service! <3 The Luna Family
:(
Nooooo
I can’t believe it! I would always go there as a kid with my mom to get groceries! I love it there. It’s a shame to let that store go. People need to start supporting local markets, such as this one.
Fork in it. All those power lines , surprised nobody has a tail growing.
I like Ralphs than others stores!! So sad.. :(
Huh?
Ralph’s at the Quad to?
Nooo not my Ralph’s i had a crush on a bagger/cashier and a baker damn that sux i won’t be able to say good bye to them
CC is going down hill fast
Raymond De Keyser :.(
Marissa Alba
Wal-Mart
People do support local ma l markets, it’s called vallarta, lol. Whoever said things are cheap in Ralphs must never really shop elsewhere, in my experience Ralphs have one of the highest average prices of all the grocery stores I’ve gone to, I’m not surprised it’s closing, just saying
Local markets*….
Hi nick were they going to put you?
Idk I’ll find out in two weeks
People saying Ralph’s is over priced should go to other stores in the area sure you’re obviously not going to beat out the juggernaut that is wal-mart there, but in quality yeah Ralph’s food has won there as being a person whom goes just about everywhere to find the happy medium of grocery’s. As I have shopped at every store over time Ralph’s has been the victor. Also people prices will vary week to week when the ads come out sometimes they’ll be higher sometimes they’ll blow people out of the water that’s how things just work in life
ah such fond memories, so many beer runs.. orchard village ralphs we the hart high alumni salute you. cheers
Wow, empty for two years?? That sucks for that retail center. It already struggles.
As far as a predecessor, I vote Stater Bros. I hate that we don’t have one in this side of town.
Leslie Tasevski this will make chris happy!
Jason Kennedy
That store obviously wasn’t turning over a profit.
There is no other local market…this Will be a hardship for many…
Kathy Kelly Eiden :(
I’ll gladly pay the slightly higher prices at Ralphs then step foot into walmart, Vallarta, or food for less.
I work for Ralph’s and thank you for your support:) here’s a funny pic my dad took of a lady at Walmart ….toilet seat cover hanging from her ass while waiting in line…lol I can’t believe he took a pic of her….funny huh??

I am an employee at this location before that I was a customer for many years. I understand the reasons behind the closure but that does not make it easy. I have gotten to know my customers very well, there families , there smiles. I have so many that I hug each and every time I see them. I will miss them and my coworkers who really are family to me. Where ever we are relocated we will all land on our feet but god I will miss my friends, my customers.
You are awesome. You made my nephews day by giving him a cookie. You will be missed.
Thank you so much. I will miss all my cookie kids. Please come see me again before we close. Halloween would be a great time.
Yikes. I buy my milk there! I’m not driving to Costco for milk! Save Ralphs!

The city originally planned to run Orchard Village all the way up Valley Street to connect to Calgrove. It failed due to a “Save the Oak Trees” campaign designed to benefit homeowners in the area – who knew about the plans prior to purchasing their homes. That corridor would have allowed Hidden Valley residents to patronize Ralphs, increasing revenue and competition in the area which would lower prices at VONS. The shopping centers at Lyons and Valley have suffered greatly due to the cancellation of that road plan. This is a great example of a city plan that has been fought by residents, and when the residents succeed in beating back the city, they then complain about the consequences. The consequences in this case is failure of business, lower quality businesses, and lower quality employment in the area. Those shopping centers should be the center of the southern portion of our valley, instead they have become a monument to what could have been. So keep your easements on Valley street. Put in more stop signs and keep the gates closed. After all, a couple of oak trees should be more important than where we can shop, or if dozens of businesses make it in central Newhall… right?
You forgot to mention the two children that were hit by speeding cars when the gate was open You forgot to mention that houses on Valley St. had their block walls hit and demolished 3 times. You forgot to mention that an off-ramp of the freeway needs to dump onto a highway (4 lanes) not a 10 foot road with houses that have driveways that have to back out onto those roads. So it was not just all about the oak trees. One child had every muscle ripped off her leg and that was the end of her athletic career.
Do a little more research before you make such general statement.
What a shame. Our Albertsons closed and we’re getting a vallartas there. The Mexicans prefer the prices there and we’re getting more and more Mexicans in this valley but I like there prices on produce and their fresh Mexican food too. Try Sprots and 99 cent store. Maybe one of those stores will go in there.Another is Food4Less. If the Valencians don’t support there local business, they close!
There closing my Food 4 Less after twenty years.Dam landlord triple the rent…!!!
Which food for less? In Santa Clarita ?
Chino
She’s allgirl friend , Frank Rodriguez…….
Very sad I used to work at that store, great memories…
what???? is my favorite Ralphs !!! :(
The Ralphs in Castaic had the same problem. They said that the landlords raised the rent and they couldn’t pay it any longer. They can’t put a store in there either I don’t believe! It’s a crime but Walmart is taking over all the stores it seems.
