[KHTS]– Saugus Union School District officials approved nine members for an oversight committee intended to keep an eye out on the $148 million bond measure voters approved in November.
The school district is required to approve an oversight committee to oversee the use of the bond monies to ensure that projects proceed and are completed as described in the bond measure language.
The Citizen’s Oversight Committee (COC) has members that will begin service with both one- and two-year terms so all of the members’ terms do not expire at the same time.
The committee is required to have at least seven members who reside within the Saugus Union School District’s boundaries with at least one member who is a business representative, a member of a taxpayers’ organization, a member of a senior citizens’ organization, a parent of a student in the district and a Parent Teacher Association (PTA)/Parent Teacher Organization (PTO) or school site council member.

“The Saugus Union School District is so fortunate to have such a large group of highly qualified and dedicated parents and community members who were willing to volunteer to be part of the Citizens’ Oversight Committee,” said Rose Koscielny, Saugus Union School District Governing Board president. “Looking at the qualifications and background of the members of the COC gives me great confidence that this committee will be very effective.”
