[KHTS]– Local teen artists are being invited to submit their artwork and win a complimentary trip to Washington, D.C. to see their artwork displayed in the Capitol Building, officials announced Friday.
Representative Steve Knight, R-Santa Clarita, has announced that he is inviting high school students in his district to submit their artwork to the Congressional Art Competition, according to a news release.
Students may submit an original work of art for a chance to be selected as the California 25th Congressional District’s winner, according to a news release. The first place winner will be provided with complimentary airfare to Washington, D.C. to see his or her art displayed in the Capitol Building during an unveiling ceremony.
“I’m very excited to give students the opportunity to showcase their talent and to highlight the artistic achievements of our community’s youth,” said Congressman Knight.
Artwork must be submitted by Friday, April 24 to one of Knight’s Congressional District Offices in Antelope Valley or Simi Valley, or to the KHTS Radio Station in Santa Clarita, according to the news release. A winner will be announced by May 1, and will be selected by a panel of judges consisting of members of the art community throughout the district.
Fast Frame in Valencia opens the store to the judging, said owner of Fast Frame in Valencia Randy Burzynski.
