SCV has some of the worst traffic engineering I have seen in all my years. The imbeaded signal loops are abandoned during the day as the brain trust of this city would rather have drivers sit at unnecessary red lights. No wonder so many run red lights.

Wow. I didn’t think that could happen. Those computerized traffic signals are supposed to have built-in safeguards against errors like this.

Yes………….it was one of the bad ones. We have at least one a week here. I’ve called to get the signal changed to a left arrow only to turn from Orchard to Wiley……but the City says they have to finish a study on how big the left turn lane needs to be if they make the left be RED after the green arrow. I am not sure “malfuntion” is the correct word. It’s more like – THE LEFT ARROW SHOULD NOT THEN BE A GREEN “YIELD”, IT NEEDS TO BE RED.

Ohhh that’s what happened; crazy. We drove through that intersection a short time after, and wondered why the cops were directing traffic.
Oh my goodness, could have been me. I drive this everyday from work going home on my lunch break. I missed this coming home today by who knows how long. Saw the police there and city working on the lights. Hope everyone is okay, so scary.

This is why you need to look both ways before proceeding through an intersection. Don’t rely solely on the signal.
