Allan Vince

The Master’s College Athletics Department has brought aboard Allan Vince as the next head coach for its women’s volleyball program.

Allan possesses a dynamic, varied, and high level Volleyball experience,” commented third-year TMC Athletic Director, Steve Waldeck.  “Combined with his deep-rooted faith in Jesus Christ, Allan is passionate about the opportunity to serve alongside us at The Master’s College.  We are thrilled that he is joining our team, and we believe he is a wonderful fit for our department and our institution.”

Vince, a native of South Pasadena, is currently serving as California Baptist University’s First Assistant Coach to the men’s program.

Well trained in the sport, Vince’s resume is highlighted by being a First Assistant Coach for the United States Men’s National Volleyball Team  for the Pan Am Games (2013 & 2014), the Head Volleyball Coach for San Marino High School’s girl’s varsity program (2009-11), First Assistant Coach for Pasadena City College  women’s program (2006), and a UCLA Bruin Volleyball Camp Coach and Counselor (2003-11).

As a student-athlete, Vince refined his volleyball skills at Golden West College where he led the squad to a third-place finish in the OEC Conference. In 2002, Vince transferred to UCLA where as a student-athlete he led the men’s volleyball team to a second-place finish in the NCAA in 2005.  In his final year as a Bruin, Vince earned NCAA All-American Honorable Mention honors in 2005.

After earning his bachelor of arts in English Literature from UCLA, Vince produced an impressive career as a professional athlete marqueed by being a member on the United States Men’s National Volleyball Team where he was a prospective competitor and a member of the training team leading up to the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games.  From 2006-08, Vince was also a member of various professional teams in Puerto Rico, Argentina, and Latvia.

Elsewhere in his career, Vince was a representative athlete-coach in Brazil for Athletes in Action (2010), a sports ministry co-director for Youth With A Mission in Latvia (2008), and a member of the AVP Professional Beach Volleyball Association (2006-07).

Vince currently resides in Riverside with his wife, Solveiga, their son, Christian (4), and daughter, Sabrina (1).

With my experiences as an assistant coach, I’ve been able to observe a lot of things that I would like to see implemented in a program,” commented Vince. “Now, as a head coach, it’s an exciting time to branch off and put into practice what works and what doesn’t. I can’t wait to work with minds that are hungry to learn the sport and be successfully athletically, academically, and after college. To be able to establish and maintain a culture threaded in Christ and founded on a greater purpose to live is an amazing opportunity. Sports will ultimately bring out our great strengths and great flaws, and to be around Christians who believe this is and grow from this is an exciting opportunity.”

In 2013, the Lady Mustang volleyball team posted its second best season in program history by going 23-9 (8-6 GSAC).  In the coming weeks, TMC’s 2014 schedule will be released.

The coaches at The Master’s College are a unified group who have a train of thought that is centered around the gospel,” further assessed Vince. “I’ve seen what that can do at CBU, and to be able to do that while shepherding the girls on the volleyball team is an amazing opportunity. I feel like it’s going to be a great time to work alongside my future colleagues and see how we can lead our teams in a way that honors Christ.”
