Crime Prevention Unit
[LASD] – There were twenty two part-1 crimes reported this week in various areas of Valencia (zone 5). Of these crimes, there were four vehicle burglaries, three thefts from unlocked vehicles, two vehicles stolen, and one residential burglary.
The vehicle burglaries occurred in the 24000 block of Avenida Entrana, on Avenida Rotella, and on the 22000 block of Deodar Place. These thefts occurred between 6:00pm and 7:00am, and the victims indicated their vehicles were locked and parked in front of their homes, or in their driveway. Items stolen were visible from the outside the vehicle, and were obtained by smashing the vehicle’s window and taking the items. These crimes are currently being investigated. Anyone with information regarding these incidents is urged to contact the Sheriff’s Station at 661-255-1121.
The thefts from unlocked vehicles occurred on Avenida Rotella, Avenida Cappella, and Via Alcira. The hours these thefts occurred were between 8:00pm and 9:00am. These reports indicated the victims had left their vehicles unlocked and/or their windows rolled down. The items stolen were also visible from the outside of the vehicle.
Once again it is important to take steps to keep from being victimized. Be aware of your surroundings. Secure all personal belongings, and do not leave your valuables visible in your vehicles (rather take the item(s) with you or place them in the trunk of the vehicle).
Two vehicles were reported stolen from the Valencia area. The two vehicles were a 1995 Nissan Maxima that was stolen from a local business parking lot, and a 2012 Cadillac Escalade stolen from the 24000 block of Creekside Road. Always remember to secure your vehicles by rolling up all windows and locking all doors before leaving your vehicle. When possible, try to park in well-lit and highly visible areas.
The residential burglary occurred on the 27000 block of Sycamore Creek Drive. The victim indicated he left a rear door unlocked, and found his lap top was stolen from a bedroom. The theft occurred between 12:00pm and 10:00pm while the victim was away from his home. A possible suspect has been identified, and this case is currently being investigated by the Santa Clarita Sheriff’s Station Detectives Bureau.
On a positive note, Santa Clarita Deputies assigned to patrol the Valencia area arrested 11 individuals for various criminal actions such as possession of drugs and/or marijuana, being under the influence of drugs or alcohol, shoplifting, spousal assault, and rape.
Continue to report all suspicious activity by calling the Sheriff’s Station at 661-255-1121.
