The Master’s College men’s cross country team won their third consecutive Golden State Athletic Conference (GSAC) championship Saturday at Irvine Park in Orange, CA.
The Mustangs were paced once again by John Gilbertson (Saugus), who won his second straight individual GSAC championship, covering the 8,000-meter course in 24:22.4, nearly one full minute ahead of second place Ricky Avila of Concordia.
David Eller finished 9th in a time of 26:24.8 and Anthony Pizzo took 14th with a 26:46.8. Pizo, Eller and Gilbertson all were named to the All-Conference team.
The Mustangs women’s team finished fourth out of the seven teams competing at Irvine Park. Hannah Kellerman turned in a second-place finish over a 5,000-meter course in a time of 18:01.5, eight seconds behind race winner Rocio Pelayo of Concordia. Freshman Karis Frankian (Saugus) finished fourth (18:20.2) and Katrina Graham finished ninth (18:41.6). Kelerman, Frankian and Graham ere also named to the All-Conference team.
