Irvine – The 2012 All-GSAC Volleyball Team has been selected.
Third year head coach Bobby Blanken has been named the Golden State Athletic Conference Coach of the Year. Under the tutelage of Blanken The Master’s College women’s volleyball team had its best season in program history. Blanken and his staff are also responsible for the Mustangs’ first-ever appearance in the coming 2012 NAIA Championships. The Mustangs are 26-5 overall and ranked 6th in the nation in NAIA Division 1
TMC’s Samantha Dougherty (Madera, CA) was the lone Lady Mustang on this year’s roster. Dougherty received the GSAC’s “Player of the Week” award on two separate occasions throughout the 2012 campaign, and was also a recipient of the NAIA’s “Volleyball National Player of the Week” award. The junior outside hitter ranks third in the conference in both kills and service aces.
Five GSAC teams are represented on the All-GSAC team and all five of those teams have qualified for the NAIA Volleyball Championship Tournament. Vanguard will compete in the NAIA Volleyball National Championship Opening Round, while The Master’s College, Concordia, Biola and Westmont qualified to the NAIA Volleyball National Championship final site in Sioux City, Iowa, from November 27 to December 1.
Blanken played volleyball at Canyon High School.
