Zone 5-Valencia reported 31 Part-1 Crimes during the past week. The criminal incidents included grand theft auto, vehicle burglary, assault with a deadly weapon, and numerous petty theft/shoplifting from local businesses.
There were five grand thefts of vehicles from various areas in Valencia. Two of the vehicles, both Honda Civic, were stolen from a mall parking lot and recovered a day later in the Saugus Area. A male, white adult has been arrested in connection with several auto thefts. Both vehicles were in good condition with nothing stolen from them. The two outstanding vehicles are a 2005 Ford, F150 stolen from the 23000 block of Del Monte Drive and a utility trailer stolen from the 24000 block of McBean Parkway. The vehicles were stolen between 8:30 a.m. and 9:00 a.m. during weekdays. The fifth vehicle, 1991 Mazada, was an attempt only from the 24000 block of Avenue Tibbits. The vehicle had its ignition torn from the steering vehicle. No items were stolen. All reports are being investigated by the Santa Clarita Detectives
One vehicle burglary occurred in the 26000 block of Rockwell Canyon Road between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. The vehicle was parked in a school parking lot and left unlocked. The item stolen was a purse containing cash and credit cards, which was left on the rear seat visible from outside the vehicle. Four other vehicle burglaries occurred in various areas of Valencia. Entry/exit was made by smashing a passenger window. The items stolen included, tools, purses, car stereo and Christmas presents left in plain view from outside the vehicles. Remember to secure all personal belongings and do not leave valuables unattended or visible in your vehicles. Secure items in locked trunks and if possible park your vehicles in well-lit and highly visible areas.
