[KHTS] – A mailbox theft left a Sand Canyon man looking to help other be more aware after he was victimized Thursday.
Brian Reynolds, founder and studio manager of Cali Photography, had hundreds of dollars worth of work for his clients in his mailbox went he left his home.
When he came back, a brazen, mid-day burglar had taken photos, posters and other work that was set to go out to clients of his studio, which specializes in motorsports.
“I came back from running errands and the flag was still up on the mailbox and the contents were gone,” Reynolds said.
“One of the items was a tube with large prints inside, so they’ll have some pretty cool posters for their wall of someone else’s car,” he said.
Reynolds’ security system captured the driver stopping at his mailbox, taking the contents and then driving off.
He reported the crime and turned over the evidence to the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station, but he also wanted to tell others to be more careful, he said.
Reynolds has lived in the area for several years, and hasn’t any problems until recently, he said.
A spate of burglaries had his neighbors offering him an untimely caution after he told them about the incident, he said.
“Within the last six months, there’s been a few of them,” Reynolds said, adding that a neighbor told him about a sheriff’s deputy who lived in the area and also had his home burglarized in the middle of the day.
“If anything,” he said, “I hope this will help people be a little more diligent and vigilant.”
