cashfind081114_a [KHTS]  Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station deputies made five drug-related arrests this past week, according to Sheriff’s Station officials.

Two men were pulled over Monday night in Valencia, after a Sheriff’s Station deputy ran a license plate for a gray Inifiniti that came back with an outstanding warrant for a previous narcotics-related incident, officials said.

Mitchel Szpak, 24, and Gregory Szpak, 28, of Santa Clarita, were arrested on drug-related charges.

Deputies conducted a traffic stop near the intersection of Tournament Road and McBean Parkway around 5:30 p.m.cashfind081114_5

Deputies also seized a large amount of cash in a black Adidas duffel bag, which is under investigation by detectives with the Narcotics Bureau, according to Lt. Brenda Cambra of the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station.

“It’s being investigated to see if (the source of the cash) was legal or not,” Cambra said. Sheriff’s Station officials did not disclose how much cash was found in the bag.

Mitchel Szpak had an outstanding warrant, and Gregory Szpak was arrested on suspicion of heroin possession.

A Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station K-9 unit investigated the vehicle after the suspects were arrested, and no additional narcotics appeared to have been found, officials said.

cashfind081114_3Mitchel Szpak is being held in lieu of $50,000 bail for a misdemeanor charge. Gregory Szpak is being held in lieu of $10,000 bail on a felony charge.

In an unrelated incident, three men were arrested for a grow operation taking place near the Templin Highway exit of Interstate 5 in North Los Angeles County.

Adrinn Esparza-Haro, 21; Ramiro Delgado-Perez, 22; and Manuel Mendoza, 22, were all arrested by deputies with the Marijuana Eradication Team, Cambra said. That unit is headquartered in downtown Los Angeles, she said.

    • I was surprised to find out that at 15, I could find any drug I wanted. I’m going to be 30 in a few months and nothing has changed. People doggedly think that assault, kidnap and throwing people in cages for ingesting innocuous bits of vegetation or even heroin is going to solve the drug problem. What we need is education. If you have a drug problem you need to see a doctor or a specialist, not a cage.

Nice. They caught another person making a living selling something that people come to them for. Now we have to pay for their incarceration. How about turning the war on drugs to the border, stopping people from illegally crossing, and letting people so what they want with their own bodies…!

  51. Too many complainers in SCV. Recently moved here from Northridge and you all have no idea how good you have it. This is nothing. Believe me. Crime has always been here, it’s just that there’s never been online sources to report every little thing that happens. This makes it appear like the world is coming to and end, but the reality is SCV is by far way cleaner and more crime-free than all surrounding valleys and urban areas. Educate yourself and realize you all have it great. Santa Clarita is a safe and nice place to live and raise a family compared to nearly all other parts of SoCal.

  52. I agree with you Jason. We are just a little bit spoiled here in SCV. Good job, Deputies, at catching some bad guys!

  53. I drove by it too. It is a nice place to live, but keep the drugs away from our kids. No drug dealing scumbags. Thanks. The end.

  54. Jerry Sinard Jerry Sinard says:

Probably earned in on their paper route. :-)

  55. When they say a LARGE amount of car.. you would think 80 maybe 150 G ‘s !!! What they really mean is 15 bills! -.-

  56. I really can’t wait for the day when drugs are treated as a personal choice and not a crime. If these guys hurt someone then they are crminals. If they were getting high, or even if they were high on heroin that is their choice. What a waste of money.

  58. Most of the culprits are not from Valencia. Surrounding areas. Peeps end up hanging in Valencia.
