Hundreds of Santa Clarita residents lined up outside Oak Tree Gun Club Saturday to have the chance to meet and get a picture with former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin.

Members of the crowd were brought in one at a time through a side room of the main building, where they could purchase a book if they did not own one, before meeting Palin.

Palin attempted to strike up a conversation with each person who passed through the desk, getting to know the people that approached her.

“She’s very personable,” said Richard Anderson, a Valencia resident who attended the event. “I always think of politicians as kind of stand offish, but she’s very friendly.”

Many of the attendees lined up early for the signing, such as Santa Clarita resident Suzanne Friedman.

“We’re here to support (Sarah Palin) with her new book she’s coming out with,” Friedman said, “because we support her and her stance with the Second Amendment Foundation. I’m a woman. I’m a lifetime member of the NRA.”Palin-4-300x160

Palin’s new book, titled ‘Sweet Freedom: A Devotional,’ includes 260 meditations that use biblical verses to tackle current national topics such as economics, debt, social justice, marriage, parenting and human trafficking.

The book was officially released on Nov. 16 2015, and the former Governor is now touring the country to sign copies and meet with fans of her work.

“We would love to have her join in this presidential race as well,” Friedman said. “She is a biblical based, faith loving woman. She also has a very strong connection with her family and her community. She also advocates for children and families of children with special needs.”

Palin is best known through the country as the Vice Presidential candidate who ran with Senator John McCain back in the 2008 presidential election.

McCain and Palin lost the election to current President Barack Obama and Vice President Joe Biden by seven points in total national votes.

Since her 2008 VP bid, Palin has written 5 books, starred in her own TV show and served as a political correspondent for Fox News.

  7. It was AMAZING! She is the sweetest, nicest lady! I loved the time she took to face time with Coastie to Thank him. She loves our Military!!! Absolutely LOVE that about her! Thanks to @oaktree for bringing her to Santa Clarita!

  8. Sandra M. says:

It was a great event today. I could have stayed there until the end taking pictures and meeting such nice people. The Oak Tree Gun club did a great job putting this together. It was very well organized. Even with 1,000 people present, it all ran very smoothly. Sarah is such a sweet and genuine person. I cannot imagine sitting there meeting 1,000 people in one day, yet she was so kind to look each person in the eye and really listen to each one and give them each a special moment. She’s one special woman and I hope the Lord opens the door for her to run for office again soon!

  9. Hahahahahahahahahahahahahaa omg

  10. Pimping some dust collecting book. That’s every idiots dream, to write a book! Huh? What wisdom could she offer humanity?

    • Mike Spurlin says:

Why is she an idiot?? Because you say so??

    • Nothing she’s done has proven genius or that’s she’ll change the world or that she’s anyone I can consider admiring. She’s part of reality tv. Hello.

    • Mike Spurlin says:

So the fact that she was a regular lady, that wanted change so she ran for local government, then was elected Governor..doesn’t count for anything?? But i guess since you dont believe in her values that makes her an idiot? You are a Pathetic person!!

    • Calling people names is pathetic. Go ahead buy her book, shake her hand, and go away. She wasn’t trying to be a game changer. Regular lady doesn’t cut it to run a nation. Again, I’m not impressed. You can admire her if you want. Her daughter got knocked up as a teen FYI. Her values are meaningless to me. You go ahead and have instruct you on her values.

    • Mike Spurlin says:

Names?? Are you or are you not the person who is writing negative thing about a person you know nothing about, regarding her daughter what does she have anything?? She is a good person that supports our military..that really all that matters to me!!

    • Teen pregnancy indicates parental neglect. Hello. She would have never won the White House. Never. Again, she’s basic & I support the military. I’m a hard working tax payers. She’s just not a “real” politician.

    • Mike Spurlin says:

All of that doesn’t make her a bad person..sometimes we should look in the mirror before we cridisize other people…

    • Whatever. Again, you can have admiration for her. That’s your choice. Hopefully you bought her book & she can enlighten you! Read it all & Yelp it. Enjoy. Buy 10 books, support her back since she’s liking the revenues of fame. You’re her fan I’m not.

    • Dobie Gillis says:

      Mike Spurlin “before we cridisize”

      You are a walking LOL!

    • Dobie Gillis says:

“She is a good person that supports our military..that really all that matters to me!!”

So please ‘in list?’ LOLZ! I’m sure you’d sign your name wrong. Newhall is a mess if you are their speaker.

    • Mike Spurlin says:

      Again Dobie you got me!!

  11. Doreen Nagle says:

She knows how to parlay her five minutes of fame. But she is a manipulative uneducated woman who is willing to pimp her constantly pregnant out of wedlock daughter while pretending to be pious. When asked what she reads she said it was a gotcha question because she doesn’t read.

  12. From the article:

“McCain and Palin lost the election to current President Barack Obama and Vice President Joe Biden by seven points in total national votes.”

This must have been included to make it seem close? Reality – Obama won by receiving the highest % of the popular vote by a Dem since Lyndon Johnson in 1964…… Over 10.5 million more votes and 365 electoral votes.

  13. If you took time to go see this lady….you have my sympathy. And if your even still glad you got to meet her i know a name of a good shrink.

  14. Bill Reynolds says:

Yep, McCain & Palin lost to Obama & Biden; now look at the huge mess we have. I really wish that I could have met Sarah and had her sign my book, but duty elsewhere called.

  15. macroview says:

Such ignorance and hatred from low-information voters here, stinking up the joint. Those on the left seem to revel in attacks. I fear for their children.

  16. Were all the pages blank?

  17. Steve Thomas says:

Sarah was genuinely friendly, it was a pleasure to have the opportunity to say hello and shake hands. Sarah is an American who appreciates our values and freedoms. We need to support those who promote America and our history.

  18. Why was this not publiced? Thanks alot scvtv and The Signal. I would have liked gone

  19. Raina says:

Did the book come with a box of crayons?

  20. It would’ve been more productive if Palin was strapped to a target.

  21. Mark Austin we missed it!!!

  22. Dobie Gillis says:

Having Palin sign a book she wrote is like having Stevie Wonder draw a coloring book.

  23. Sharon Parker says:

I lived in Alaska during Palin’s term as Mayor of Wasilla and her December-July term as Governor of the state. A story published at the time (if I remember correctly in the Anchorage Times) of her run for Governor reported that one of the first things the newly elected Mayor did was to contact the city’s librarian and inquire as to how to remove certain books from the shelves. The librarian then, according to the article, informed Mayor Palin that elected officials could not determine what books the public could or could not read nor could they determine which books could or could not be on public library shelves. Nothing more was heard about the incident after publication of the story and it is assumed that Ms. Palin dropped the subject and I would personally guess, had very little further contact with the librarian.

Kinda gives you a clue about Ms. Palin’s definitions of ‘freedom’, ‘democracy’ and ‘public service’. Why is anyone interested in buying one of her books?
