[Canyons Aquatics Club] – Mission partly accomplished. Abbey Weitzeil has earned her first Olympic medal. Abbey and her teammates took second in the 4×100 relay and captured the silver medal.
This is the first of four events for Abbey, and she was great. In fact, she had the fastest split for the Americans with a 52.56. The team swam 3:31.89.
According to our stats, that is an American record. Nothing new to Abbey, but always nice to own another.
We are proud of our girl, but a little upset that Team USA did not lead off or anchor with the best swimmer in America (and possibly the world). Coaching 101, best goes first or last.
No matter, she has a silver and any jitters are gone. She’ll be dialed in and so will we.

????????????
Not an American record as swim did not swim the lead off leg. Swimming the 2nd, 3rd or 4th legs do not count towards records as they have an advantage at the start.
