Country music fans from throughout the Santa Clarita Valley are invited to experience an evening with Rosanne Cash as the beloved Grammy Award-winning singer-songwriter takes the stage for a special one night only performance at 8 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 1, at the Santa Clarita Performing Arts Center at College of the Canyons.
Born in Memphis and raised in Southern California, Cash, the eldest daughter of musical icon Johnny Cash and wife Vivian Liberto, has long since carved her own niche in the music world.
She joined her father’s road show after graduating high school and quickly advanced from doing chores like laundry to performing on stage over the course of just three years. Following that experience, Cash explored other career avenues and travelled abroad, not wanting to make a career in music based solely on her father’s success.
In 1978, she eventually signed with Columbia Records after officially deciding to pursue a career in music.
Multiple hits soon followed.
In all, Cash has put out 21 top-40 hits, including 11 number one songs. One of her most popular albums, 1981’s “Seven Year Ache” netted three number one singles and helped Cash crossover to the pop charts.
A year later Cash’s song “I Don’t Know Why You Don’t Want Me” from the 1982 album “Rhythm and Romance” brought the young artist even more critical acclaim.
Today, her list of accolades stretches even longer.
With her 2014 album “The River and the Thread” — which pulled in three Grammy Awards — Cash has been able to transition from the heart-rending angst of her earlier music into a more retrospective sound.
Along the way she also won the SAG/AFTRA Lifetime Achievement Award for Sound Recordings in 2012, and the Smithsonian Ingenuity Award in the Performing Arts in 2014.
Tickets for Rosanne Cash’s PAC performance are priced from $65 to $85.
Fans will also have the opportunity to take part in a special ‘Date Night Done Right’ pre-show cocktail party, dinner and meet-and-greet photo opportunity for an additional $75 per person.
