Providence Holy Cross Medical Center was locked down for about three hours Thursday after learning of a threat made against a physician. The hospital remains under controlled access, allowing visitors and employees to come and go through the front entrance only.
The hospital is collaborating with Los Angeles Police, who continue to investigate. Despite media reports, there was no shooting at the hospital and no one was injured.
During this high-security effort to ensure safety of patients, visitors and staff, the hospital was temporarily closed to ambulances. That restriction has been lifted.
Providence regularly trains for such emergencies and acted in an abundance of caution to ensure safety.
