[KHTS] homicide052415 – The District Attorney’s Office filed assault charges against a Newhall man arrested on a separate murder charge over the weekend, officials said.

Robert Arvizu, 48, of Newhall, is being charged with two counts of assault by means of force likely to produce great bodily injury against a man in a separate, unrelated event.

That assault reportedly occurred May 23, according to a District Attorney’s Office spokesman.

Robert Arvizu remains the lone suspect in the murder of his wife, Courtney Arvizu, a 25-year-old also from Santa Clarita.
That case is still under investigation and no charges have been filed yet.

Deputies discovered Courtney Arvizu unresponsive, with injuries consistent with blunt force trauma, in her home around 2:10 a.m. Saturday.

She was declared dead at the scene.

She married Robert Arvizu in March, according to a Facebook post linked to Courtney Arvizu.Newhallmurder

Robert Arvizu is being held in lieu of $560,000 bail in the assault case.

He’s being held at the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station, according to Sheriff’s Department arrest records.

Anyone with information about this incident is encouraged to contact the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department’s Homicide Bureau at (323) 890-5500.

  16. Kristen says:

This whole situation sucks, makes me sick I know Rob and I can’t see him doing this. He was a good friend and always looked out for me and I always felt safe around him so for this to be happening baffles me.

    • Candice says:

      Are you defending him?

      • Leeza says:

Put it this way, the only people that really know what happened are the two of them and God. His family members and children may be reading these comments. If you weren’t there then maybe everyone should consider and respect that both families are suffering through this tragedy

        • Candice says:

Really? Do you think I care what his people read? My friend is dead, never coming back, don’t preach to me! This is a public forum. Should they come on to read articles pertaining to their loved one, they should know they’re looking for trouble. I won’t be shut down because this man has a bunch of idiots pleading his innocence!!! Gimme a break!!! I’m sorry none of you ever knew Courtney! You have no idea what her family and friends are suffering through. Maybe had you been lucky enough to have her grace your lives you would then realize the destruction this man has caused. But people like you, you’ll never be as lucky as I, I knew her, you never will, none of you know any truth here.

          • Leeza says:

And maybe, just maybe I know both people.
And yes it’s a very tragic event. I am sorry you lost your friend but this isn’t about you now is it

          • Amanda Lemm says:

it is about justice, and he has priors and I knew courtney forever and she is a wonderful person and sister and daughter!

    • Amanda Lemm says:

Obviously he did it, he was in the house, and I grew up with Courtney, a 98 pound girl. I think everyone needs to know she was an angel on earth and this guy should get death penalty. He has no excuse, and her family is reading this as well, And maybe you shouldnt feel so safe.

  17. Leeza says:

    ❤️

  18. Candice says:

    Thank you Amanda!
If you knew the both of them and you’re trying to convince me that you care about my friend then you are failing miserably to win me over.
Amanda, isn’t it ironic? This would be the company that this sicko would keep. Leeza, God is watching you. Remember that. Especially since you had to drag him into this as if he had a physical hand in it. Come on! Leave your beliefs and righteousness for church. Spare me.

    • Candice says:

Must be nice to have a Judge for a Daddy, Rob… Must be convenient to use your church as protection from owning your inner evil. Disgusting. You’ve walked this earth too long with your head held high. You stabbed my friends ex at a bar last year, no mistake on the initial charges you were facing! No one else stabbed anyone, it was you. You beat Courtney before… For all you people under this mans thumb, you are defending a sick and twisted monster… Accept it, he’s a murderer, an abuser, a thief and a fake… Wake up!!!
