[KHTS] – Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station officials are continuing to investigate an armed robbery at a Newhall Wells Fargo ATM last week and are asking for the public’s help in identifying the suspect.

ATM_holdupOn Sunday, May 10 around 9:30 p.m., a victim had gone to the Wells Fargo branch ATM at 24180 Lyons Avenue to make a deposit, according to a Nixle news release.

The victim was confronted by a male, between 20 to 30 year old, white, 5 foot 10 inches tall, weighing approximately 160 pounds wearing a black, zippered hoodie sweatshirt, black ski mask and grey pants, according to the news release.

The suspect let the victim finish making a deposit before the suspect used the ATM to withdraw $100, according to the news release. The suspect then fled the location on foot.

Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station Robbery/Assault Team detectives are continuing to investigate the incident.

Anyone who may have information about this incident contact Detective Campbell at the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station at (661) 799-5143 or remain anonymous by calling “LA Crime Stoppers” at (800) 222-TIPS (8477), texting the letters TIPLA plus your tip to CRIMES (274637), or using the website (reference #01113).

Deputies remind residents to be aware of their surroundings and remember these tips:

  •      If at all possible, conduct banking during daylight hours when the area is busy.
  •      If you need to go to the bank during off hours, try to select an ATM which is inside a store, or in a busy well lighted area.
  •      Bring a friend with you to provide an extra presence.
  •      Always be vigilant.  If someone is invading your personal space, increase the space between you, as distance provides more time to react if necessary.

Yeah I was walking on Lyons near the bowling alley when all the chaos started. I happened to be in possession of a hoodie. My eyes were messed up from the spotlights that kept being pointed at my face

  3. There is no way to identify this guy lolol. And all that for $100?! Really..??

    • What amount would you have given the guy before you’d consider it a robbery rather than a loan? Humm, would you feel better about the fuss if someone was killed for the 100 bucks?

    • Ummm… What? Why are you coming at me all aggressively.. yikes. I never said I didn’t consider it a robbery… And I never said anything about someone should get killed or would “feel better”. I’m saying it as wow he robbed someone at an atm for $100. As in that’s sad. When incidents like this happen you always hear about ppl trying to get away with as much money as they can. It’s sad this guy could of lost his life and the robber threw his away. So please dont come at me and take my comment as something it’s not. I wouldn’t want anyone killed, like you’re implying I do. That’s sick. Weirdo.

    • Wtf? Lemme just go to jail for $100….the only people that would be able identify is, the offender, the offended, and the offenders friends…lucky he didnt get his account drained. Maybe it was God, and the guy that got robbed for $100, was planning on using that $100 for something like getting a hotel room for him and his mistress, and Gods like “nah ur not doing that tonight”

    • Bhahahahaha stupid

    • Juss sayin, everything happens for a reason. No one died so its a win.

  5. That happened right across the street from me….terrible. people suck

  6. Ppl don’t go to the ATM at night, and the pic of suspect…kinda looks like Yoda that went to the dark side :/

  7. Freddy Mariano i dont feel safe in this town anymore!!!
