[News Release] – The 4th annual CHILDREN DROWN WITHOUT A SOUND – WATER SAFETY EXPO will be held at Fire Station 126 in Valencia on Saturday, May 31, 2014.

watersafety2014The In-N-Out Cook Out Trailer has agreed to attend the event providing their great burgers! The Los Angeles County Fire Department is looking for a sponsor to underwrite the cost of the trailer. Academy Swim Club of Valencia has generously partnered with us to provide half of the cost of sponsorship (approx. $2,000).

If your organization would be interested in providing the other half of the sponsorship at $2,000 – please let me know.

The commitment to attend the event came late from the In-N-Out organization. Most of our marketing and advertising is complete and ready for print. The Fire department will provide banners at the event showcasing your generous donation and sponsorship in support of this very important event. Last year’s event drew approximately 1500 and we expect to top that number this year as the event now has a following and name recognition.

As you know, our firefighters are committed to providing education and warning about the risk of drowning to children. Responding to a child in a pool is one of the toughest calls for our firefighters! The message of the event is serious but the day is filled with family fun including:

  • Radio Disney Performers
  • Water Balloon Toss with Firefighters
  • Emergency room physicians from HMNMH and Children’s Hospital LA
  • Stewie the Duck – Sings with Kids
  • Kids Club Activiities
  • 9-1-1 drowning drill: Paramedics respond with helicopter fly over to simulate transport of child via air squad
  • Free gifts for families
  • Sign up for swim lessons, CPR lessons, pool safety companies
  • Demo from US Coast Guard, American Heart, Red Cross…
  • ….and much more!

Thank you for your consideration to collaborate with our Firefighters in this important event! For more infornation contact Stephanie English at stephanie.english@fire.lacounty.gov or (661) 250-2710.
