“Around the Barn,” KHTS’ weekly western radio show, has been on the air for three years and in that short time has been nominated twice for the Western Music Association’s Radio Show of the Year.
Now, the show is featured in The Western Way, a national publication for western music performers. The magazine discusses the successes of the young, Santa Clarita-based radio show.
“When we found out we were nominated for the second year in a row last year (by WMA), we were just ecstatic,” said co-host Nancy Pitchford-Zhe. “Our goal this year is to win it.”
The program airs Saturdays at 9 a.m. on AM-1220 KHTS and is co-hosted by Pitchford-Zhe of Heads Up Therapy on Horseback, Bobbi Jean Bell of the OutWest boutique in Old Town Newhall, and Saugus resident Julie Pomilia, a second-grade teacher in Castaic and the granddaughter of Roy Rogers and Dale Evans. The producer is Mike Dowler, the radio station’s engineer and veteran host.
