The Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station hosted its 10th Sheriff’s Community Academy graduation ceremony Tuesday, which featured 16 community members who underwent an introductory 6 week community law enforcement course that began Nov. 11.
Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department Division Chief Jacques La Berge, Captain Roosevelt Johnson, Rosalind Wayman, Senior Field Deputy to Supervisor Michael Antonovich, and city of Santa Clarita Mayor Marsha McLean, were on hand to congratulate and present a certificate of completion to each of the graduates. Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station deputies were also on hand to congratulate and host a dinner for the graduates. A big thank you and congratulations to all 16 participating community members.
The Sheriff’s Community Academy offers members of the community an exclusive opportunity to experience a wide range of services provided by the Sheriff’s Department and by the deputies assigned to Santa Clarita Valley Station. Participants learned about patrol procedures, jail operations, detective bureau investigations, gang and narcotic enforcement, and how they can become involved with helping to protect our community through Neighborhood Watch. Participants also had an exclusive field trip to one of the local Sheriff’s Department maximum security jail facilities.
