The unranked COC Cougars football stunned the number one ranked defending state champions Mt. Sac Mounties with a dominating 30-6 victory Saturday at Ken Gunn Stadium.
The Cougars defense played bend but don’t break football, allowing the 332 yards, but holding the Mounties to just two field goals in the game.
The Cougars held the Mounties Eban Jackson to 19-39 passing for 155 yards while holding all eight Mounties rushers to under 50 yards a piece on the game.
Offensively the Cougars lit it up, as Devon Dunn threw for 364 yards and three touchdowns on 17-35 passing. Vincent Strange led all receivers in the game catching eight passes for 172 yards and two touchdowns while Nicholas Jones was the most efficient receiver catching just four passes for 170 yards and one touchdown.
The Cougars will next host Citrus College on September 12 at Cougar Stadium. Game time will be 6:00 p.m.
