The Sand Fire damage at East Walker Ranch in Placerita Canyon has been repaired and the open space has been reopened to the public.
The fire damaged 432 linear feet of lodge pole fencing, two open space signs, six mileage markers, and an irrigation backflow and pipe system. The cleanup required the felling of 13 trees and clearing of trails from fallen rocks and landslides.
City staff from Urban Forestry, Streets, Parks Maintenance with city volunteers and contractors along with help from the Fire Department, U.S. Forest Fire, and State Fire provided help in getting the area safe and reopened.
