The family-owned company Oakmont Senior Living is coming to Santa Clarita with the creation of its 19th Oakmont community set to open later this year, Oakmont of Santa Clarita.
Owned and managed by Oakmont Senior Living, Oakmont of Santa Clarita will be a luxury independent and assisted living community comprised of pet-friendly units situated on seven acres of land on the south side of Newhall Ranch Road between Rye Canyon Road and Vanderbilt Way.
“We have just sweeping views of the valley and of Magic Mountain,” said Executive Director Margie Veis. “We’re going to have a wide range of residents that are going to be living there.”
In addition to those who require assisted living, seniors who no longer want to live at home or just want to be “catered to” are also welcome in the community, which will feature a salon & day spa, movie theater, fitness center, activity rooms, library, indoor and outdoor restaurant-style dining, bistro, gardens and walking paths, pet park and wellness center.
If a senior begins their stay at Oakmont of Santa Clarita without a need for care, but later begins to need additional assistance, they won’t need to change apartments and can remain in the apartment that has become their home.
“We will have a nurse on duty about 16 hours a day, so they’ll kind of be monitoring the wellness of your loved one,” Veis said. “If we start to see signs– maybe someone’s not eating enough or somebody’s falling –we can intervene; the family can intervene.
And then if you need some care, you need help managing your medications or taking a shower or getting around, we’re going to have staff onsite that is specifically trained with compassion and patience to do that.”
A specific area of the community has been designated for seniors who have been diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease or dementia, and through a program called “Traditions Memory Care,” these seniors will receive specialized assistance to suit their needs.
“The residents will have activities that are suited to them; they will have meal time in a way that they feel that they have dignity and it’s a restaurant feel, but if they need assistance or sometimes they need a special utensil … it can be done so that they don’t lose that dignity, and they can still enjoy the socialization of a mealtime just like you or I would,” Veis said. “There will be a little additional staffing there, and the staff is specifically trained to deal with dementia and Alzheimer’s, because it takes a very special person to work with that diagnosis.”
While model apartments are expected to become available for viewing in September, Veis and her staff are currently hosting introductory luncheons at their onsite sales center, where seniors can apply to pre-lease an apartment, making them eligible to join an ongoing Founders Club that offers its members exclusive benefits.

“Luxury” meaning unaffordable.
Unless they pay minimum wages.
I have never work for this industry, but if you ask me; I would only work for $25.00 per hour to start. A basic education should be a must and then a review every 6 months. I don’t work with señors, but I help one every now and then. God bless this man by all means, but it’s a really tough job. I am learning every day with him about the most important things in life.
A hint: Patients is something most people don’t have or can’t afford, but this is a must you need to have for the job.
Be kind but think of your future., at some point if God wants, we will be elders too.
Rafael Leyva, I have no idea what you are talking about. I am a senior (not senor). I am also a 24 hour caregiver to my mother.
On a fixed income of $1200 a month, is this affordable?
You mean patience..?
Valencia is affordable for those who can afford it. It’s a simple math calculation…you have the money to live golden years or you don’t. Should be a warning to us all. Are we planning for retirement. Many elders whill sell homes in this area or more expensive areas to be able to pay for these apartments. Life isn’t fair.
its not about fairness …mom always told me its not in your birth certificate that life will be fair…the unfairest part is that elderlys why can’t they live with their children…cause that is affordable some of that social security goes to those who take care of you …is it fair to your children …thats not the point…fair has nothing to do with this …we are becoming a society that
wants to dump our seniors ..so if your lucky enough not to have to live with your children…wonderful..
Awesome.
For mom Cheryl Ann Villegas!!!
We need this type of home for seniors, but we also need senior living facilities for seniors with less income. Similar amenities but not on such a grand scale that puts the price out of reach for the majority of seniors. Something in between.
The senior center is moving to canyon country and they are building affordable senior apartments and assisted living for middle and low income buildings coming.
Adam Murphy that’s what it is!!
Do your homework and research all senior living communities. One does not fit all.
Are they putting in a new stoplight to help the residents exit the property? If not I can see many accidents in the future, seniors trying to merge onto a major street and get up to the speed limit of newhall ranch road.
This valley needs senior arts with double masters
So the baby boomers can live nicely and share the
Rent.

We need senior living with double masters so they can share the rent
Our future is all set now.

Wondered what it was … and its going to be a nice view of Six Flags for some of them. Perhaps I can pre-book for myself but my guess around $5k a month.
It sucks for the firefighters that work that area. Their call volume just went up.
They should be thankful for calls. That’s called a job. Tax payers rather see them busy than sitting at the station doing nothing.

Oh ok you are a crack up.

See here’s the problem that you fail to realize , Dear . Firefighters are getting busier and busier every year yet the amount of guys or rigs working is either going down or staying stagnant. This means heavily over worked firefighters and delayed response times. Just look what is happening in the city of LA. Per capita they have the least number of firefighters and resources than any other dept their size but their call load is going up exponentially. When you add more facilities like these but fail to add more resource everyone suffers. With all the homes going up here in Santa Clarita we quite possibly will see the same issues as our neighbors to the south. Time will tell.

I consider all the angles, Dear! Firefighting is a busy job. We all have to deal with work loads that seem dauting, but oh well…that’s life in the second largest city in the country. #populaitondensity. #urbanization #awesometown #work
Want to say just in time, but the cost of living in this area is not conducive to reality… at least mine….
Gerard Migwell that is one of my projects
What is it your doing here?
We built some retaining walls and will put stone veneer on the buildings as well as build some courtyard walls with stone veneer.
Veneer like Kevin fords mouth?
Hi everyone! I am the Move In Coordinator for this beautiful new community. Please stop by or call for more information! Oakmont of Santa Clarita is going to be a top of the line community with extensive amenities for our residents!
Cost?
Hi Linda,
Unfortunately I don’t have the ability to give you an accurate cost without knowing your personal situation. Please call me tomorrow and I’d be happy to get into specifics. 661-295-2025 is my direct line. I’ll be in at 8:30am
I already know, by the word luxury in the description above, that this is unaffordable for me and every senior friend of mine.
Hi so your working with Mary. Love it.
Any tips on a god area in clarita for non seniors
looking to mowe ower there in januari

I think it is wonderful Katie Brianne Leonard, so happy you are going to part of this. Having worked in this line of work for as long as you have you will be a great asset for them. And you will do an excellent job. All should wait to voice their opinions until they see what a wonderful job all these hard working individuals do for the community. It is not an easy job and it takes people that are dedicated. I am proud of you Katie.
Thank you!! :)
Agreed Dianne! I worked on this property pulling all permits and getting everything through plan check. This center is AMAZING! Really focusing on Alzheimer’s patients needs and was so impressed with all the little things the architect created like the memory cases in front of the rooms, and that was just one thing. Great company to work for also from start to finish!
it’s not very big looking property from NRRd
I hope it doesn’t cost an arm and a leg to live there!
So many senors only have around a thousand $’s a month to live on leaves them in not so nice places to live in. Think about it when your pricing your rentals.
I agree…without a stop sign or light it’s going to call for accidents…especially with older people behind the wheel to try and get onto NRR will be difficult
We got a card in the mail saying it was on golden valley is this another one?
Amma live there for sure haha
The one on Golden Valley is totally different complex.
It is up one the hill by Newhall Ranch Road.

We have at least a few low income apts in SCV.
One in Canyon Country on Sierra Hwy across from
Telly’s. One on Bouquet Cyn by the House of Pancakes. Another up Bouquet Cyn next door to Best buy. I know there are others too.
Friendly Valley Country Club on Sierra Hwy across from Stater Bros is nice for middle income to buy but getting old. Belcaro is a
on Newhall Ranch Road by Copper Hill but is much more expensive to buy. We could use something in between these two complex’s.
It would be great to see more small houses
like the 2 bedrooms off of Seco. Smaller or almost no yard. Open floor plan. Priced for baby boomers who want to sell and buy down. Maybe less than 400,000. Asking for a lot I know.
Many retirees did plan for their future. These kind of projects are only built were the demographics show that people can pay.

Another unaffordable place in Valencia. Let’s post the monthly rents for 1 and 2 bedroom apartments.
There is no street light going in there because there is no left hand turn option coming out of the structure. They did add right hand and left hand turn pockets.
I feel like scv should make an affordable apartment complex dedicated to young people and and students trying to get on their feet
That is why they all live at home with their parents! Every house on my street has the kids in their 20’s still living at home. Even if they have jobs and college degrees they still can’t afford rent.
