1850 - Henry Mayo Newhall arrives in California [story]


robertdavidhallThe SCV Mayor’s Committee for Employment of Individuals with Disabilities is pleased to announce the celebration of National Disabilities Employment Awareness Month at our Employer Recognition Event on Tuesday, Oct. 6, at 7:30 a.m. This general meeting will be held at the SCV Activities Center (20880 Centre Pointe Pkwy, Santa Clarita, CA 91350). Businesses and the general public are welcome.

This event will include breakfast provided by Chartwell’s for the nominal cost of $12, payable at the door. The Mayor’s Committee is excited to have its returning keynote speaker, actor Robert David Hall, who for the past 16 seasons has starred as Dr. Al Robbins, medical examiner on “CSI: Crime Scene Investigations.”

Join us to hear Mr. Hall’s engaging and compelling story of his journey through a near fatal accident, recovery, dealing with disability issues, and his life today. We think you will find his insights both interesting and inspirational.

ABOUT ROBERT DAVID HALL

Robert David Hall portrays the quirky coroner, ‘Dr. Albert Robbins’ on CBS TV’S “CSI: Crime Scene Investigation.” The show completed airing its 15th season on Sunday, February 15th, 2015. CBS chose to salute the show with a final sendoff in the form of a 2 hour movie airing September 27th, 2015. CSI is also seen in over 130 countries.

A double leg amputee and a devoted community activist, he is one of the most prominent disabled actors working today. Hall serves on the Board of Directors of the National Organization on Disability and is the National Chairman of the Performers with Disabilities Caucus for SAG, AFTRA and EQUITY. He was honored to introduce President Obama at the 20th Anniversary celebration for ADA on the White House lawn. He was honored to present to the country of New Zealand and to King Abdullah II of Jordan the Franklin Delano Roosevelt International Disability Award at the United Nations. This award is presented to a country for their exemplary efforts to improve the lives of people with disabilities. Hall was delighted to be a part of the Count of Los Angeles – Department of Mental Health’s special, “Profiles of Hope” program.

Many organizations have acknowledged Hall’s fine work on the behalf of the disability community. He has been recognized for his work by the California State Leaders for his contributions as one of the Founders of I AM PWD, The Department of Fair Employment Housing Act (FEHA) in celebration of its 50th anniversary, the Ivy Bethune Diversity Trailblazers Award from Screen Actors Guild and the Harold Russell Award from the Media Access Office.

In demand as a public speakers Hall spends time addressing a variety of organizations and corporate entities.

In his 20-plus year career, Hall has amassed numerous credits in film, television and voice over work, including; “Rock Story,” “The Negotiator,” “Class Action,” “LA Law,” “Private Practice” and “Life Goes On.” Music has always been a part of Hall’s life.
