California Attorney General Xavier BecerraIn the wake of the announcement by Attorney General Jeff Sessions asserting that the Trump Administration will rescind the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals, or DACA, initiative, California Attorney General Xavier Becerra announced Tuesday that he is prepared to sue the Administration over its decision.

“President Trump has turned his back on hundreds of thousands of children and young Americans who came forward and put their trust in our government. But in terminating DACA, the Trump Administration has also violated the Constitution and federal law,” said Attorney General Becerra. “This Administration has chosen to ignore what American voters have said they think is right. Nearly 80 percent of voters want to protect the legal status of Dreamers. Ending the program is devastating not just for recipients, but for our economy. California businesses would lose more than a billion dollars in turnover costs. Attorney General Sessions claims this decision is full of ‘compassion,’ but real compassion would be treating Dreamers ‘with heart,’ as President Trump himself said. California is taking action because one in four DACA grantees live in our great state. I will do everything I can to fight for them.”

In July, Attorney General Becerra led 20 attorneys general in sending a letter to President Trump urging him to maintain and defend DACA. In the letter, the attorneys general explain how DACA has benefited their states and the nation as a whole and call on Trump to fulfill his public commitment to Dreamers, whom he called “incredible kids” who should be treated “with heart.” Roughly a quarter of all DACA grantees, or more than 220,000 young people, live in California.

  1. shove a sock in it becerra…

  2. Maybe he should sue the legislators- those who make laws !

  3. Jerry Ford says:

When will the idiots realize un documented is ILLEGAL!!!! GET THE HELL OUT OF MY COUNTRY IF YOU ARE ILLEGAL! End of story.

  4. Bart Joseph says:

You mean the executive order executed to override the Supreme Court that included an expiration date.. that one?

Why not just have congress change the law?

Sue the president for not writing an executive order.. smh

    • Shirley Cox says:

Even Obama said DACA is a stopgap and temporary. He also said it is probably not legal and that Congress makes laws not the Exec. Branch. Baloney Becerra! Stop showboating! Get Congress to do the job they were sent to DC to do, i.e. work on a bi-partisan bill that is good for ALL the people!

    • Sally Mehr says:

Good for all people that came here legally!

  5. Why? Have Congress complete the DACA intent properly. Dems and GOP #Govern or get voted out. Trump didn’t have the guts to propose guidelines. He should have complied with his campaign pledge and maybe we’d have a formal law by now. #LyingTrump #YouElectedHim

  6. Sally Mehr says:

    Shut up Bacerra…

  7. John Chan says:

Based on what ? What Obama signed the EO he said it was temporary and unconstitutional.

  8. Dean Wise says:

Becerra is an idiot but if he’s going to use his personal money go for it if he’s going to use taxpayers money he better do his homework first Barack Obama did this with an executive order Trump is resending this so the Congress can put it into a law

  9. LMFAO! I love the way we can all just pick and choose which laws we want to follow and obey nowadays without any repercussions. I think I’m going to go rob a bank later. And if I’m caught and arrested, I’ll just say I don’t agree with that particular law and chose not to abide by it. Then my defense attorney can just justify my actions by arguing that if local, federal, and state governments support, harbor, and condone other criminals, why not me? Than I’ll just sue for discrimination… Lol!!! Welcome to the new America! SMH..

  10. Good to see the CA state government continuing to waste our tax dollars and not actually solve any problems…

  11. Gregg Mead says:

OMG there are some people in California others than the brain dead libs Ofumo violated and trashed the constitution which many Americans have died to protect Trump only following Rule Of Law

    • Shirley Cox says:

Amen! Obama, Bush and Clinton did nothing. Congress makes laws and should finally be responsible. For decades politicians used WORDS to get votes before elections and did nothing after elected. Even Paul Ryan in the House said Trump did the right thing dropping DACA! Words and toothy grins just do not address the issue.

  12. SCVTeamM says:

Peoples true beliefs come out on the internet. By chump having twitter rants, he has inspired the keyboard warrior community. I don’t see how the DACA has affected any American in going to college and finding a job. If you can’t get a job nowadays its because you dont want to work.

  13. He’s gonna sue the president for not renewing an unconstitutional executive order, going back to enforcing the law on the books and leaving the future of this issue to Congress where it belongs?
The leaders in California are unbelievably stupid sometimes.

  14. Quit wasting our hard earned tax dollars!

  15. Jump in the lake. 8 yrs and Obama should of made these people legal. He defied the law and now you have a President going by the rule and you are destroying him no matter what he says or does.

  16. SCVTeamM says:

Goes by the rules? Oh yeah the man who avoids paying taxes for more than 20 years and has yet to show his tax returns. Or maybe the fact he had his tower built by illegal immigrants. Its ridiculous how ignorant his supporters are. I guess by copying former prez Ronald Reagan’s slogan people think he can perform alike.

  17. Notice the article fails to mention they are illegals or even undocumented?
    More fake news

  18. Go for it Becerra! ? make sure to use your own $$$!

  19. Why not, he can make political hay using other people’s money. There is no down side for him.
