Tip of the Week: Shopping Tips
The holidays are here, and many of us have already started shopping for Thanksgiving and Christmas. Here are some tips to help prevent identity theft and unauthorized withdrawals from your bank account:
1. When paying with a debit or credit card, assure that your card stays within your sight while transactions are being made. Be alert to any cashiers who may be attempting to hold your card below the counter and out of your view.
2. When shopping on-line, assure you are shopping from credited on-line stores that have proper security measures in place to protect your card information.
3. Never make on-line purchases from a public or unsecure wi-fi source. Thieves can actually intercept your information from a public or unsecure wi-fi and use that information to make purchases of their own.
4. If you lose your debit or credit cards, call your bank and creditors and place a hole on your cards immediately.
5. Check your bank and credit statements regularly to assure there have not been any unauthorized purchases.
