Los Angeles County firefighters made quick work of a brush fire that broke out Sunday afternoon just north of Newhall Ranch Road in the middle of Santa Clarita.

The fire was reported just before 1:30 p.m. in an area of brush and trees northeast of the intersection of Newhall Ranch and Hillsborough Parkway. It was declared knocked down at 1:40 p.m. Fire fighters from Stations 108, 111 and 126, a water tender from Station 156 and a hand crew held the blaze to a spot of about 200 feet by 75 feet.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
