Thursday, 8:30 a.m.: 398 acres, 60 percent containment.
As of 10 p.m.: Fire has burned 350 acres, 45 percent contained. All evacuations lifted.
As of 8:15 p.m.: LACoFD public information officers are reporting that evacuations may be lifted around 10 p.m. tonight.
As of 7:40 p.m.: Emergency officials on scene of the Calgrove Fire have called off all fixed-wing aircraft. Currently, two helicopters working to extinguish the blaze, Stephanie English, LACoFD spokeswoman said.
Caltrans is setting up a hard closure on southbound 14 on The Old Road offramp, according to CHP officials.
As of 6:50 p.m.: Calgrove Fire per incident commander fire is now at 200 acres. 450 firefighters continue to work with air resources. According to Stephanie English Comm. Services Rep, the fire is 25% contained.
As of 5:50 p.m.: Los Angeles County Fire Department Deputy Chief John Tripp and Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station Captain Roosevelt Johnson held a press conference.
“We’ve had a report of one structure that was damaged during the firefight. Again, the fire is still spreading so we have fire engines and firefighting personnel out at the head of the fire protecting those structures and defending them against the fire as it approaches,” Tripp said.
One firefighter fell and received burns from the fall, was transported to Henry Mayo Memorial Hospital and will be transported to a burn center, Tripp said.
About 500 homes, 1,000 people and numerous animals have been evacuated, Roosevelt said.
“All animals were evacuated to Hart Park and transported to a private home on Bouquet Canyon Road and Vasquez Canyon Road,” Roosevelt said.
Los Angeles County Fire and SCV Sheriff’s have received help from numerous agencies around Southern California.
There was a structure damaged by the blaze, Tripp said but it “appears the only damage is to the eaves of a garage. We have decision points that if (the fire) hits certain places, we will evacuate.
“We’ve got five investigators at the point of origin, along the I-5 freeway. We’re going to do our best to determine what the cause was. We need to keep our situation awareness up of whats going on in neighborhoods and whats going on,” Tripp said, adding that Santa Clarita Valley residents need to stay tuned to the TV, radio, social media to stay up to date.”
Some of the streets evacuated include Wildwood Canyon Drive, Champagne Lane, Green Crest Drive, Clearbank Lane, the SCV Senior Center on Market Street, Oak Bridge Lane, Davey Avenue, Eliott Lane, Roosevelt said.
“When we got to the scene of most of these locations, people were already packing up their things when we went to knock on their doors and notify them,” he said, adding the residents have had “great cooperation” with deputies.
A total of seven helicopters dropping water and four fix wing aircraft dropping fire retardant are on scene, Tripp said.
Pierce College in Woodland Hills is also taking in livestock who have been displaced by the fire, according to the Los Angeles County Animal Care and Control Twitter.
As of 4:50 p.m.: Incident Commander reports fire still at approx 100 acres with 20% containment.
About 1,000 have been evacuated due to the Calgrove Fire according to Commander Mike Parker with the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.
About 450 firefighters have responded with assistance from numerous agencies according to fire officials.
Horses have been evacuated to William S Hart Park in Newhall.
The horses being held at Hart Park need to be evacuated to Action Family Counseling and trailers are needed.

Wow! Sounds like a first-class, well organized evacuation and response with everybody acting responsibly. I drove by the area this morning (on the 5 Fwy) and noticed some mobile homes and perhaps other structures that had brush and trees very close to them. As well as cutting back some landscape, these folks should be very thankful to the firefighters for a great job!!!
