California Highway Patrol Newhall officers will be out on Bouquet Canyon Road more in an effort to enforce and educate the public about the new speed limit.
The new speed limit on Bouquet Canyon Road, from the Bouquet Reservoir to Texas Canyon, has been reduced from 55 miles per hour, to 45 miles per hour.
The new speed limit was reduced in May by the County of Los Angeles in an attempt to slow the speed of the motoring public and reduce traffic collisions.
Over the last few days, extra patrol units were sent into Bouquet Canyon Road for enforcement purposes. CHP was given a federal grant earlier this month for the extra enforcement.
During the special enforcement detail, officers focused their efforts on speed violations and crossing over double yellow lines.
Officers made contact with a total of 38 motorists, 32 of which were cited for either speed or crossing over double yellow lines into oncoming traffic.
The CHP will continue to monitor and enforce the traffic on Bouquet Canyon Road, along with all the other county roads that are located within the 674 square miles of the Newhall Area.

Does that mean San Francisquito Canyon? People drive like maniacs on that road!
Yes, san fran as well, as well as spunky and ELR. Primarily bouquet though, since there is at least 3 accidents a week on this road…
Bailey careful!
Will the CHP enforce a minimum speed (15 to 20 mph below) impeding traffic in these canyons? Daily, I see people in a line of 5 to 12 cars passing a dawdler, frustrated that a clueless or self-righteous driver refuses to use the turnouts. More crossing the double yellow is seen during normal commute times due to this problem than ‘speeders’.
This is great.. they need to do this on Sierra Hwy as well!
