[KHTS] – An official with Coroner’s Office identified Friday the body of a man found dead after a Newhallapartment fire back in April.
Clyde Henderson, 61, of Newhall, was found dead after Los Angeles County Fire Departmentfirefighters were called to the scene of his home on the 26700 block of North Oak Crossing Road.
Henderson’s body was badly burned, and officials pronounced him dead at the scene.
The deputy medical examiner who conducted the autopsy was not able to determine the cause of death, officials said.
Henderson was identified using his medical history. X-rays of Henderson were matched with ones from his medical history, said Lt. David Smith of the Los Angeles County Coroner’s Office.
The initial investigation of the incident is being handled by Sgt. Ken Clark of the Homicide Bureau of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.
A call to his office was not immediately returned Friday.
The Arson/Explosives Unit of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department also was investigating the incident, officials said. No officials cause was released Friday.
Los Angeles County Fire Department personnel arrived on scene at the 26700 block of North Oak Crossing Road, near the Friendly Valley area of Canyon Country at 11:35 p.m. on April 28, officials said.
“Fire was dispatched at 11:25 p.m.,” said Supervisor Keith Mora of the Los Angeles County Fire Department. “The call came in from an apartment across the street.”
A badly burned victim was found inside, Mora said, noting officials on scene were not able to determine the victim’s age, or whether the victim was a man or woman.
