Statement from CSUN President Dianne F. Harrison on Recent Events in Charlottesville, Virginia
Dear CSUN Community,
Like so many of you, I continue to grapple with the events of Charlottesville, Virginia, and the blatant display of racism and violence by those who actively seek to corrode our core values of diversity, inclusion, and respect for all people.
In a time when we are forced to confront historical roots of oppression and when healing is needed most, there must be no ambiguity as to where we stand. There is no room for moral conflict when it comes to denouncing and repudiating white supremacists, including neo-Nazis, the Ku Klux Klan and other hate groups. Anything less than unequivocal condemnation is indefensible, and we should never hesitate to call out hate and bigotry — a hesitation unfortunately on clear display from the current administration.
At CSUN, we remain resolute in our commitment to addressing bigotry whenever it arises on our campus or within our communities. The university is strengthened by a shared understanding and appreciation of the benefits and function of diversity, and we will persist in reaffirming the worth and dignity of every member of the university community.
Indeed there will continue to be moments when we are tested on the boundaries of freedom of speech and assembly; and in those same moments, there will be opportunities to speak out against any and all injustice, both large and small.
As we welcome new and returning students to our campus in the coming weeks, let us be reminded that diversity itself cannot be taken for granted and must be sustained with intention. I encourage you to take a moment and reach out to those who may be most likely to experience acts of intolerance — students of color, students of Muslim or Jewish faith, international students, LGBTQIA+ students, students with disabilities, undocumented students, students with opposing political views and others — to let them know that they are a valued part of our CSUN community and they can count on your support. It is also important to be in solidarity with the many individuals, from all backgrounds, who use their voice to speak out in support of tolerance and respect, and who oppose violence as a means of expression. During these challenging times, it is imperative that we remain champions of diversity over division.

Gee Miguel she is being intellectually dishonest by pretending that the left was not involved in the violence. If you are against violence then condemn all that were involved, don’t cherry pick for political reasons and think you can virtue signal with any credibility. Mindless blather.
Don Teller prove me wrong. I can’t stand Republicans so nice try. When facts become your enemy, you become part of the lie. Are you saying that Antifa and BLM should be allowed to attack who they want, as long as they say so?
Trump is a terrorist sympathizer, make no mistake, what happened in Charlottesville was an act of domestic terrorism and he has failed the American people to openly label these pathetic cowards as such. Unfit to lead. #ITMFA
“-a hesitation unfortunately on clear display from the current administration”. It’s obvious the only reason she issued this statement is to push her own political agenda. Instead of naming all hate groups (ANTIFA, BLM, ect…) and condemning their actions, she cherry picks her own list. So basically she’s stating it’s okay to conduct violence, hate, vandalism if you’re a Liberal Democrat. As CSUN President, she should leave her own political views out of official university press releases and remain neutral as to be fair to ALL students.

Mindless blathering.
How so?

I knew the right wing Santa Clarita rabble would be out in force here.
The statues should be in museums to document and preserve our history not to glorify it.
The statues in question were put up in 1924 in a black neighborhood to send a message for them to stay in there place as part of jim crow laws.
Don Teller prove me wrong. I can’t stand Republicans so nice try. When facts become your enemy, you become part of the lie. Are you saying that Antifa and BLM should be allowed to attack who they want, as long as they say so?
Don Teller so have a vote on it. Mob values only lead to more problems.
Ruben Andre Norte stop with the drugs I didn’t say anything about either group
Ruben Andre Norte we don’t vote on rights the courts decide that. Have you ever heard of the term tyranny of the majority?
Don Teller drugs? I don’t know what you are on, the thread is about her speech and how she didn’t condemn all sides.
There are no good Nazis by definition
Don Teller or tyranny of the minority is what we are seeing. This is all about lefties being butt hurt about the election. Nothing more.
Don Teller or Antifa or BLM.

Don Teller so you are okay with violence, as long as it is coming from leftists. Okay. Delusional people do tend to project what they suffer from.
