This week’s SCVTV/AMG & Associates Student Athlete of the Week is senior linebacker Devin Georgio of West Ranch.
Devin has a 4.14 GPA and kn ows his future lies with what happens between his ears.
“When you have a good education it’s a lot more stable getting into college than sports,” Devin said. “You always know you’ll have something in the future with an education. You never know how far athletics will take you or if you get hurt.”
His parents have been a huge influence on Devin. His father is a business owner and his mom a teacher.
“I’ve seen what my dad can do because he went to college and he was able to start a business, and build that up” he said. “So he’s a role model for me.”
Devin is interested in pursuing engineering or even architecture in college. He’s always excelled in math and the sciences, so it’s not surprising he points to a math and a science teacher at West Ranch that have had a great influence on him.
“A lot of my teachers have been pretty good like my (calculus) teacher Mr. Hughes has always been pretty funny and he’s a great teacher. My physics teacher, Mr. Haggard, has also been influential on my life.”
Doing well in school has always been something that seemed natural to Devin.
“I just kind of felt like it was out of the ordinary to NOT try my hardest in school. It would feel weird if I wasn’t paying attention and trying my best in everything I did.”
Congratulations to Devin Georgio of West Ranch, the SCVTV/AMG & Associates Student Athlete of the Week.
