Stacey Koon, the former LAPD sergeant who served time for his role in the beating of Rodney King, pleaded no contest Wednesday to driving under the influence of alcohol and was sentenced to 36 months of summary probation.
During a pretrial hearing in the Santa Clarita Courthouse, Koon, 67, entered a no contest plea to a misdemeanor count of driving with a blood alcohol level of .08 percent.
Koon was ordered to pay a fine of $390 plus penalties and assessment fees, complete a three-month DUI class and install an ignition interlock device on his vehicle, said Ricardo Santiago, spokesman for the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s office.
Koon was arrested May 1 after he crashed his vehicle into a parked car in Castaic, authorities said. He was the only one involved in the collision.
