Local governments prepare for emergencies; however, during a large scale disaster, the number and scope of incidents can overwhelm conventional emergency services.
The Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) program is an all-risk, all-hazard training. This valuable course is designed to help you protect yourself, your family, your neighbors and your neighborhood in an emergency situation.
In the CERT course, citizens learn to:
* Manage utilities and put out small fires
* Treat the three medical killers by opening airways, controlling bleeding, and treating for shock
* Provide basic medical aid
* Search for and rescue victims safely
* Organize themselves and spontaneous volunteers to be effective
* Collect disaster intelligence to support first responder efforts
This FREE course will be conducted over seven Thursday evenings from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. The first class starts August 20 and the final night will be Thursday, Oct. 1. Classes will be held at the Sierra Hills Clubhouse located at 30000 Sand Canyon Road in Canyon Country.
You can register for this FREE course online [here].
If you have any questions, please contact the CLEPP office at (562) 347-1080 or email the LASD CERT Coordinator at cert@lasd.org.
