Bob Haueter
Alissa McCurley, spokesperson for 25th District Congressman Howard “Buck” McKeon, issued the following statement regarding the departure of District Director Bob Haueter:
“Bob Haueter has decided to pursue other opportunities. Bob has been an integral part of Congressman McKeon’s staff over the past 5 years, and will always remain a part of the McKeon family.”
Haueter did not return calls for comment.
Haueter has long been involved with Republican politics, but recently had a setback when neither he nor his wife Lynn were reelected to the 38th Assembly District Republican Central Committee. Haueter had served as chairman.
However, with the Central Committee he will still remain in place through December (controlling the purse strings through the November election) and he will still hold a power base as Vice-President of the California Republican Assembly and is a board member of the Republican Party of Los Angeles County. (His wife is Chairman.)
From 1979 to 1999, Haueter served as Chief of staff, Republican Caucus at the California State Assembly.
From 2000 to 2007, Haueter was Senior Deputy for Los Angeles County Supervisor Michael Antonovich.
Five years ago he began working for McKeon.
