Got non-perishable food? Drop them off at construction specialists C.A. Rasmussen, Inc., who is currently holding a food drive that benefits the Santa Clarita Valley Food Pantry.
“We started our food drive last year as a way to give back to the community,” said Marketing Associate Stacey Klein. “It was only a week long, and we were able to fill an employee’s SUV.”
But Klein said C.A. Rasmussen, Inc., a family-run company for three generations, wanted to take it up a notch this year, so the company decided it would extend the drive to a month long and attempt to fill an entire dump truck.
The SCV Food Pantry, a local non-profit based in Newhall, has a vision that, “No child should go to bed hungry.” And Charlie Rasmussen, president of C.A. Rasmussen, Inc., said there is no better time to commit to that promise than now.
“Our company’s history has deep roots in the Santa Clarita Valley, so we are excited for the opportunity to do something to help the community,” Rasmussen said. “The SCV Food Pantry plays a huge role in keeping food on the table for so many families. With the holiday season approaching, we want to do anything we can to help.”
This isn’t the first time Rasmussen and his employees went above and beyond when help was needed.
“We’ve made a habit of taking charity challenges, and building them up to a larger scale,” Klein said. A couple years ago, we took the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge as a company, with a giant loader bucket of ice water. So it only makes sense we’d push ourselves to fill a dump truck in only the second year of our food drive.”
The food drive will continue until Oct. 31. Items can be found on the flier below.
Non-perishable food items can be dropped off at C.A. Rasmussen’s corporate office, located at 28548 Livingston Ave., Valencia, 91355.
Each jobsite can also contribute by giving items to their respective foreman or supervisor.
