  1. Omg its scary how i used to live on sandy drive and few years later its been a bunch of scary shootings in that area or robberys ..so glad i got out off that area

  2. That area has always been ghetto.

  3. David Snelling… Good thing you’re getting outa there!! Geeez

    • Yeah they’ve had a lot of breakins in the last 18 months and that’s because they fired the office people that seemed to be doing a good job, And then they hired all new people that let in people that wouldn’t been able to get in the year before. Because they lowered the amount you make and the credit scores just to fill vacant apartments.. I myself haven’t had any problems. But I’m still moving this week. :)

  4. That’s why I live in Val Verde lol

  5. That area used to be decent when I lived at river ranch about 13 years ago but it has turned out to be a pocket of ghetto in the SCV

  22. It’s a cheap area to live in. At least compared to the rest of SCV. However, there’s a million apartments clumped together there. Anywhere that there’s a large amount of people, problems will arise.

  23. Joey C Bavle says:

Got to love the SCV projects …good thing I moved from Chelsea way a month ago..don’t miss the cops or trash….

  63. People don’t pass judgement. Mentally girl who lost her mom as a young girl. And has grown up with minimal direction. Just lost it! I know them quite well.

    • Her mom was my aunt. I’ve been afraid to read these comments.I know the internet can be so harsh

    • Jessica was a beautiful loving girl and no one saw this coming. She was troubled but she’d always call me and say hi grandma I hope you are ok. Even though I wasn’t her grandma by blood she loved my family. I’m at a loss for words that the unimaginable has happened. Johnny and Sonny did not deserve this. May Johnny RIP and may Sonny have strength to get thru this all because Maddie really needs him now. Jessica awoke Maddie at 5am told her to get dressed and brush her teeth and go outside and wait for her. Placed headphones on her and went on a rampage. She loved Maddie so much. I’m just so grateful she spared my grand baby. No one deserved this.

  64. I am in favor of gentrification

  65. God SCV seems to be seeing a steady rise in this crap

  66. Linda Morgan says:

Thanks everyone for the kind (sic) comments about my neighborhood. Just keep this mind. When SFV was “new” it was just like SCV. It’s coming here too. To Valencia too. So quit being so high and mighty. There are more nice, friendly, law abiding citizens that live here in CC than not. Get over yourselves.

  67. It all went downhill after they turned that area into section 8

  68. Linda Morgan says:

Let’s see. The guy who killed his baby lived in Newhall. Most idiot drivers come from Valencia. The guy who had the standoff and caused the huge disturbace for his neighbors lived in Newhall. Most crimes are in Valencia/Saugus/Newhall. Not Canyon Country or Jakes Way.

  69. It’s getting as bad as the AV.

  70. Phil Goff says:

People say this can happen anywhere that is very true but it happens all the time on Jake’s way if its not one thing its another I used to live there it was a scary place glad I moved

  71. Eli Diaz says:

I was planning to move back to Newhall but not anymore…my favorite city had gone to ruin :'(

  72. I live there! I can’t go to work in the morning I was late

  73. att: deceive O’Neal this is on your hands … You and your little wannabe gang unit just sit around … Harassing the wrong people …or sentencing all da wrong people to do life in jail….Santa Clarita sheriffs are a joke out tax dollars spent for nothing … How much more blood has to be shed until the community realizes it!!!! Little man from da whites cyn area ….

  74. Geeze! I’ve lived here since 1966. This has been and still is one of the top ten cities of its size in the country! Management in that apt complex should be put on notice if they aren’t running a safe complex. There are some bad spots, I’ll agree. One use to be north oaks, behind Taco Bell. Another is old Newhall by hart high. Another down town newhall has its hot spots. But, Hadley canyon use to be a place you wouldn’t want to be after dark. Castiac has had its problems. But remember Valencia has too. In fifty years here, I’ve seen crime everywhere but the numbers are low compared to other cities. I think some blame is on the parents and the “time out” discipline. The other is Obama and the long slow economy recovery and open borders. But nothing says you can’t move to San Fernando!

  75. My grandma lives across the street there …

  76. My grandma lives across the street there …

  77. Nicole Fausett, people are ignorant, arrogant and judgemental and react before they know anything. People, like the lady said, it had nothing to do with drugs or the geographics.

  78. Nicole Fausett, people are ignorant, arrogant and judgemental and react before they know anything. People, like the lady said, it had nothing to do with drugs or the geographics.

  79. This incident had nothing to do with the area…..This could of happened anywhere…It was a dispute between 3 family members. Wasn’t a Drug Deal gone bad…Wasn’t Gang Related….Don’t be so quick to assume…

  80. Ruby Rivas says:

That’s where I live Silvia Echeverria

  81. Don Wooten says:

they keep building and that means the more people that live here the more crime you will have it is simple math cant wait to be able to move to AZ permanatly Canyon country is the second worse next to newhall in santa clarita

  82. Thank you to those whose understood where I was coming from…… Sophia we are fine a bit speechless but we are safe thanks for asking ❤️

  83. These were my cousins. They were not drug addicts or bad people!! She had alot of problems in her mind.

  84. Liz Saenz Monique Salvatore

  85. Jakes Way claims yet another victim.
